hi all

Better way to fit a pug screen that i found

well i got this of a 1400 member and it was first class it did come with brackets

the brackets were double sided, and metal plated (pic to follow)

so when putting the brackets onto the pug there was two drilled holes, on both sides. and the bracket was open ended, when these were mounted onto the screen,

the next job was to open your head light, take off the front head lamp, and undue the supporting bolts to the head light.

and then you slide the pug screen brackets down the each side, until in place.

so that in place you then tighten up the headlight bolts, and hold the screen in place.

nope as this was tightening up on the headlight bolts, the pug screen brackets were being pushed up out of place....

this was the brackets ie there open ended  ie like a horse shoe.... so after holding and grunting i said nope... and i removed the brackets

from the pug screen re-drilled the first hole, on both sides.( tap over the old hole to protect the screen )

so far so good on putting the pug screen into place  through the headlight bolts,

the curve of the screen over the headlight, was catching on the headlamp bulb unit, when refitting.

(This was because the pug bracket that was with the screen gave it the clearance to fit over the lamp and have no issues when reassembling  the headlamp)

to get round the screen catching i then offered it up to the headlight and traced a dry maker around the base of the pug screen.

them made another trace mark above the first one,by 10 mm ( or  5mm depends on the look you like )

i then cut the screen with a electric cutter having taped over the dry marker to protect the screen while i was cutting.

i the got a small rounded file and took of all the edges

then it was offered back up to  the headlight and this fitted like a glove, and because the screen was drilled, the screen could not move when the bolts were tithed back up.

after that all that need to be done, is for the headlamp light to be refitted, into the headlamp.

the screen will rest on top of the two clocks, i pushed them down a bit and fitted to black soft sponges so the screen and clocks, dont rub together

this is the way i fitted this i found it better and more secure, but if you want to use the pug brackets that is up to you

Looks good... did you ride it yet? Make any difference?

Yes it's being on for a week, and yes I can tell the difference in the front on wind.  It's much better now,, not ripping my head of when I am doing more than the national speed limit on private roads of course  ;)
