update on my decision, decided no on the kaoko, instead I watched a youtube clip on a makeyourown throttle lock and me being a practical sort of a bloke, I did just that. I made the J hook out of a heavy duty black plastic coated coat hanger. Haven't tested it yet, hopefully the weather will clear on Sunday for a test. I also went to buy (on ebay) one of those $8.00 wrist rests as in photo on a post on this thread, but would not let me pay on paypal. So yesterday while driving past the local bike shop in my taxi I called in and they ordered me one in for the sane price - glad to give my local bike shop the business instead of ebay.

i tried a Kaoko on my GTR - didn't really like it...

i have an Omnicruise or Omni Cruise and its brilliant.  10 seconds sees it on and off and you can swap from bike to bike...  failsafe... 
Used it on my GTR for a fast 1.5 day run from Cambs to Catalunya and it was a god send.

Just a piece of plastic coated heavy duty coat hanger wire about the diamenter  of a welding electrode carefull moulded around the grip has worked a treat.
