How do I check if the cooling fan runs ? Despite it never or hardly running I´d like to check it. Here in the south of Europe temperatures can get to around 40ºC. And sometimes sitting in traffic seams like I´m sitted on top of a fireplace. When I know I´ll be in hard traffic I get the water cooled Vespa out.

I believe you. How do I check it anyway ? Another thing, any opinion on the JMP oil temp gauge for the 14 ? I´ve checked the recommended one on bikeaholics.com and it´s a stubby. Don´t believe there´s a difference regarding the long ones they have.

Check the impeller is free and spinning . unplug the fan and power it up. If it works you just need to check the switch and fuse.

to just check the fan is working put a 12volt accross it and it will spin.
to check the sender is working put a bulb accross the wires when its hot enough the bulb will light up.

hope that makes sense.
i have ridden my 14 in high 40°c for a good few miles including filtering and the fan did come on and stay in even after the bike was stopped .
but all was fine and it never missed a beat emma's legs on the other hand suffered from the engine heat .
a friends xjr1200's clutch stopped working till things cooled down but again all good once it had .

only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

OR stick your finger in the fan, be sure it will start-up then :rofl2:
