Hi Guys, I am now in the process of getting ready to strip, de rust and prep the frame for respray. I have heard that you cannot get replacement VIN stickers through Suzuki, does anyone one in the UK have any recommendations where I can get one ordered from before the point of no return. tia

I understand legally you can't replace vin plates without informing the department of transport.   But if its going back on to the same vehicle, it is fine to remove, as long as its replaced in the same spot.  Any fundamental changes like frame modications (lengthening, shortening or other structural changes) would need an engineers report to certify they comply with the rules and regs.  Again, if its just cosmetics and restoration, no issues.

Might pay to check with your local department of transport.

Plus, isn't the vin plate riveted to the frame under the headstock on the lhs?

Simply drill the stainless rivets out, remove the plate, and once the frame is done, re-fit with suitable stainless rivets.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Yep, I agree with Eric, it's riveted on, so remove it prior to cleaning & painting.  Ya can't just go down to the local shops & get a new VIN label - unless you're in Albania - there's lots of vehicles there without VIN labels, weight saving I hear . . .

Yeah, if you could just go get another vin label, scrotes would be doing that to the ones they've knicked.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Hi Guys, thanks for the replies. I will have to take a photo tomorrow, but what I am referring to is an adhesive sticker that is on my frame and not a riveted plate.
