Hi all,

I am looking into getting a delkavic exhaust system for the old girl but was wondering if this will screw up the running ie running lean. The standard cans are dual skinned so do not dis-colour as much so am expecting a bit of bronzing due to being only single skinned but love cleaning my bikes so no problems there.

So as these will be wider downpipes will the bike still be ok?

At this time I am only getting the downpipes and collector and will choose some nice end cans over the winter for a little project. I take it all other after market cans will fit the delkavic? I believe they would if the standard cans do but just throwing it out there.

Thanks

Putting Delkevic headers n pipes on won't affect the fuelling, you'll be fine.  Plenty of owners out there that have fitted them.

Youll get the most out of the bike with a remap on a power commander.
But as said a lot dont bother .
I think it'll run better and get a much better mpg if you do .
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

Hi, sorry to hijack an old thread. I just bought my first 1400 (K5) the other day and I've ordered a Yoshimura full titanium exhaust off of ebay.

Similar question here. As I'm getting the Yoshi exhaust mainly for the sound and looks, will I be fine without mapping/dyno, or will the engine run bad/get hurt over time?

Might be worth checking and rebalancing the throttle bodies, I think the fuelling should be ok, its only after fitting yoshi cams that you need a dyno run and a power commander.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Thanks for the reply!

Mines running delkavic or black widow headers and link pipe with delkavic silencers, still runs as rich as ever which is to be expected from a 2002 bike, I'm sure some sort of remap would make it perfect but it's quick enough with no flat spots or oddness, but I will get get it balanced and the tps checked at some point.
The headers will change colour rapidly if its single skinned, last time I cleaned them in the frowned upon way, worked though.

what way is frowned upon Phil?    Autosol?   Steelwool?   I've used both, depends on the job I'm doing.

Harpic 10x, scotchbrite plus autosolvol and gloves, many vids, works well and quick but the naysayers in life will tell you that your wheels will fall off, brakes will fail and the planets will align. Keep it off all other bike bits and you'll have no problems
