Some advice is in order if you gentleman will please . I'm due to do my 20,000 mile service shortly, and apart from the usual (oil, air, sparks)is there anything else I should be checking as a precaution, by the way she's running sweet as a nut. Although the gear change is a bit clunky, I'm putting that down to old oil. Thanks JT (tally). :riding:

Sounds fine to me Tally, especially if she's running sweet.  Yeah, probably time to change that running in oil, see if the clunk gets any less. :stir:

Won't do any harm to drop the slave cylinder off & clean it along with the pushrod. Change the clutch fluid too as it never lasts with the heat of the engine.

My shift was clunky, changing the oil made no difference but changing the line with new fluid and cleaning the slave cylinder did.

Change fork oil always good idea.

If you can get the wheels off the ground, check the front and rear wheel bearings for any rumble, including the sprocket carrier. check head stem bearing too, face the headlamp, grab hold of the forks and pull them towards you. If any play, you will need to check and change both upper and lower bearings. If they're original, then it will have almost no grease in it and seize up after the next wet ride.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.
