Hi everyone
I have attatched a photo so i can get my question over.

On the photo there is a red wire in the block which had came out and threw up a fault, i dont know what the code was as i just pushed it back in and it went awaw,if by pushing it back in,is this adequate or is it likely to come out again.I gave it a little pull and i did meet a lot of resistance,im unfamiliar with this type of connector and was wondering if they are self gripping the wires. Whats peoples thoughts on this.

It may come out again @Eric - if it does, often on the back of the connector, there is a small raised tag (which is supposed to clip behind a lip moulded inside the plug) - sometimes this gets a bit flattened during manufacture and thus later in life can cause the wire to come out of the plug. So if it does come out and the tag is flattened, just raise it up to about a 30 degree angle with a small screwdriver and push it back in.

Hopefully though, it won't happen again and perhaps was just not properly pushed in during manufacture all those years ago
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Mr Barmy is correct, but he always is  :hat:

This post gives details of the clock connectors connections ... https://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php?topic=7356.0

Still alive ... just!!

I would have a closer inspection on the plug as there looks like there has been a considerable amount of heat distorting the insulation unless the cable was pushed  in with pliers.

Thanks everyone for your input, its all sorted now it was the wire that had come away from the small insert in the plug, because of barmys explanation i managed to get it out and soldered the wire back on. Its not perfect but it worked.
Cheers everybody.
