WTF - R/H Switchgear ... 8 Way Connector!!!!

Ok, I have a K3, the tank says it, the current wiring loom says it (according to ECU connector and Haynes manual), but with regards the R/H switchgear I don't know what's going on.

I have a lovely new loom, which seems to be a K3 (with regards ECU plug and R/H switchgear plug) ... the loom has a 10 way connector and a grey wire whereas later models had a light blue wire ... also K2/K3 are supposed to have a lighting switch, whereas later models had a hazard switch.

So everything points to the new loom being a K2/K3 loom ... but feck me, I have a hazard light control on my switchgear and the plug is only an 8 way connector.

Every other connector looks right apart from this one connector ... anyone any idea WTF is going on?

Any help is much appreciated ... away to check my K4 switchgear to see if I can use that at the moment with the new loom.

As far as I know only K2 had a lighting switch, so the K2 loom is different to K3.

Sounds like you've got a K2 loom there.

Yep, coming to that conclusion myself.

Haynes manual ...
1) Shows K2/K3 has one large connector for ECU - CHECK
2) Shows K4    has one large connector for ECU - WRONG - it has two connectors for ECU
3) Shows K2/K3 have same R/H switchgear        - WRONG - K3 uses same switchgear as K4

Physically checked on K2/K3/K4 looms ...
4) K2    has 10 way connector for R/H switchgear - CHECK
5) K3/K4 have 8 way connector for R/H switchgear - CHECK - Haynes show K5 onwards has extra two wires for the start switch, so maybe back to 10 way connector.

So, I can either ...
a) Try to get the connector apart and repair it.
b) Take connector off new K2 loom and attach to K3 loom (K3 loom is really tatty!).
c) Find the other loom that I have and see what year it's from.

At least I now know the differences, so have learned something :clapping:

Or fit a K2 RH switch gear?
I'd assume that'd work, never thought about it in case the wiring to the flasher unit is different with/without hazards.

DOH ... forgot to mention that option  :frustrated:

Good news everyone ... rummaging about in a box of busa bits this morning and found left/right switchgear ... looks like the R/H is a match for the K2 but with throttle cables included ... so ditch cables and I can use that at the moment.

If it all works then I'll buy K2 switchgear at some point

Found the other loom and it's a K2 as well ... so two good condition looms to choose from
