I was on ebay with the urge to buy another old bike when I spotted a HONDA CB900F supersport, I have wanted one for years and this one looked very nice for the year (1980) and the price was o.k-ish at £4000, contact was made and I was told it had 40k on the clocks which is acceptable for the year and he was the 5th owner, it's had had a full service and carbs set up /balanced by a bike mechanic and so runs v-well BUT the guy only bought it in January and it's up for sale already which set off the bells ringing in my head, should I have bought it? we would all have though the same thing I bet, IS IT HAVING ISSUES? is that why it's up for sale so quickly. I guess we'll never know BUT it's made me think it's time to finish the resto on my '77 GS750 as I've not done anything with it since August last year.

I`ve owned a couple of CB900F`s - the first, a standard nearly new silver `A` model back in the `80`s, then like you, I bought a later (red) model on a whim from ebay around 8/9yrs ago, (FYI a photo of that one is in the `my gallery` on this site), as I was very impressed with the first one I had. These bikes are super smooth, handle pretty well, and do everything in a `refined` Honda fashion in the way the power is delivered. Don`t expect an exciting ride, in the same way that a Z1/Z900 gave, the big Honda doesn`t have the brute edge, but they really are a nice bike and very comfortable over long distances, even though a little thirsty. One thing you`ll first notice is how narrow it feels to ride after being used to more modern bikes with much wider tanks!
Unless yours is really non-standard and has been messed with, you don`t need to worry - being a Honda, they`re pretty much bullet-proof. Enjoy it for what it is - not for what you recall them being like in their heyday! :onya:

Tony, apologies, it appears that you didn`t buy it - my misunderstanding....
