Hi guys am looking to replace the original battery with a Poweroad 16 something Li. Good cold cranking amps.
1/3rd the weight of lead acid.
Anyone had any experience with them ?
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Not worth the money and some people on bike forums have experienced battery fires...

No doubt that is VERY rare but not worth the problem.

No idea, Yuasa sealed lead acid has always worked for me.

In my view you need to be careful with removing weight from the bike, changes the centre of gravity and handling

I use Poweroad batteries Col, good battery& not expensive either.  Both bikes run them & they come fully charged (Gel) & cca is around 300 - 320 from new even though they're only rated at around 280cca from memory.  18 months & they're still pulling 300cca.  Dunno about Li version though.

Got them out of the bikes over winter as the Rego is on hold.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

I went thru the Lithium thing while back. Just ended up confused, are they good or bad. 5 yrs ago fitted Li to Diavel, because so hard to get to. It worked perfectly. Could sit for weeks and still be good. Sealed lead/ acid in 14 hasnt given any prob. Batts i sell at work, calcium, fancy name for sealed lead or AGM. I reckon AGM a waste of money, no advantage, dont last any longer, just cost more. I once fitted AGM MotoBatt to 14,lasted 13 mths. No clues from me, go with gut.

All depends on usage.

Lithium allow more duty cycle and can be discharged lower than lead acid batteries without damage. They can and do get hot, this is why only recently they've been used more and more in under bonnet applications as the cooling tech / heat dissipation is improving.

Good for caravans to reduce towing weight and run as multiple battery set ups.

Lead acid provide best cranking amps IMHO. But they can sulphate badly if left on trickle charge, and if you draw them down below say 10v they're sometimes too far gone to recover.

Agm is good for boats as they handle vibrations better, still basically a lead acid battery, just not separate plates that can fail and short out.

I've got a yuasa agm yellow battery in my 1402, no issues for the past 2 years, occasionally on the charger. So far so good

Lithium still to dear in my view, but getting better

Sorry gents, I told a porky. It's not a Li battery it's a lead acid/gel. Same as yours Col except it's a YG16BS.
Will see how we go   :onya:
