Nothing happens turning key

I am replacing some parts and disconnected and removed the tank, all the lights including blinkers.
Disconnected battery.
Battery connected again, clocks move from zero to full scale then back to zero but turning the key results in nothing. Dead.
Anyone with some reassuring news like if lights are disconnected bike stays dead?
I see nothing I could have done so bad other than disconnecting electric parts.
Tried again with all connected but
Front light
Rear light
4 blinkers
Tank
Again bike dead
Please help
Thank you

If it was all working before you took it apart then it can only be a dodgy connection somewhere .
I'd go back and check all the connectors especially the ones in the headlight bowl.
Also just check the obvious stuff like the kill switch .
Good luck .

I'll vote for a connector in the head light too, I can't recall which colour the ignition switch connector is but it's in there. I bet you disturbed it or disconnected it to get the wiring for the front indicators out.

Thank you all
Kill switch is ON
Connectors present where main light is, were all disconnected and back on. Will check all of them carefully
Did something like all disconnected and back connected but nothing changed
Only sign of life is: disconnect battery, battery back on and the 2 clocks perform test, but NO dumb lights on

Will use contact cleaner on all the faston

Which parts did you replace?

Physically check back in the order of your work everything you did, hopefully you`ll come across a loose connector or a wrong connection.

Check your fuses too, behind  lh panel.  Sometimes reconnecting the battery gives a voltage spike and current flow that blows a fuse.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Cleaned all contacts and checked them with multimeter. Nothing found wrong.
I changed the key part. The device where you plug the ignition key and rotate it to have the bike running since bike came with one in very sluggish condition. My bad, I trashed the old one since this one worked fine when I tested it.
Now: I am thinking perhaps this low cost part I bought is faulty.
Someone knows what happens to the 6 contacts of the connector when you turn the key? So I can simulate it at the bike connector and see if that is the faulty part.

Multimeter says red wire is connected to yellow one and nothing else.

But I really would like to understand how to connect the wires to have bike electrics on without damaging something, before purchasing another key device

Thank you

That sounds ugly.  What model is it? K5 onward had immobilisers built into the lock & key.

That could be why you've got nothing, however, you had it running previous with this switch? Yes? if so, you must have now connected everything back how it should be & previous had it a different way which allowed it to run. So, connect it back to how it was before, or if you've never had it running on this switch & it's a K5 or newer, there's your problem.  You'd have to rescue the original key & lock as they are coded to the ECU.

Luckily it is a K3 model, with no issue like that

Once I changed the key mechanism, everything worked fine for 2 days with new key until I did not disassemble all and reassembled to have all not working

Thank you

The pinning on the cheap aftermarket ignition switches is faulty or flimsy

On my cheap full key kit the ignition reacted something like this:

On "on" only my lights worked.
On "off" my brake lights worked
On "p" my ignition worked.

I got a replacement ignition switch of an sv1000 and it worked perfectly ever after

@Athelstanexxx do you have adjustable clutch lever (the one with the small lever that allows the lever to be closer or further away from your hand) - this can cause the clutch switch not to work - if you do have one put it all the way out and try that

I have one of these levers and use it as an anti theft device by putting a few notches in and stops the bike starting

Hope this helps

Update.
Found and installed old key hardware (not trashed, just put in bin).
Bike works.
So issue was with that one
