FI light question

Hi all

I have been out on the bike today & the bike was parked up for a few hours in the rain, when we took off again she had a misfire but only at low revs in first gear which then cleared up after 10-15 miles so I assumed a bit of water had got in somewhere (probably the ignition switch) anyway I got home tonight and after a good wash have spent a few hours in the garage spraying contact cleaner in the ignition barrel and removing plugs and also spraying with contact cleaner, all seems good & throttle response is spot on

My question is because I can't remember, when the ignition is switched on is it normal for the FI light to come on? Bike is in neutral with side stand up and kill switch set to run, switch the ignition on and FI light comes on for about 10 seconds then goes off and stays off when the bike is started - is this normal or is it telling me that there is an issue still

Thanks in advance

Pete...

Hi Will 14, pretty sure that's normal.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Sequence as just tested on my K3:  Stand up, (bike on rear paddock stand), gearbox in neutral.  Engine run switch on, turn key from off to on position. Fuel pump primes, oil pressure and FI light is on, tachometer and speedo gauge needles do full sweep, fuel pump stops, FI light goes out. Start engine and oil pressure light goes out.

Many thanks for the replies, much appreciated

Another twist today, decided to change fron stock exhausts to Delkevic tri ovals that I have & change the map on the PC3, all went well until I tried to reset the throttle position in the PC software app as it wasnt showing zero on idle as it should, error message popped up and PC3 stopped communicating with the lap top although the PC was still working as the green LED's went through the test sequence when the ignition was switched on and flashed when the throttle was blipped, tried cleaning connections etc etc but still no joy so gave Dynojet a call who were happy that it wasn't the PC and suggested trying another USB cable so off to Currys it was, plugged in the new cable and all was back to normal, out of curiosity I then tried the old cable again and yes you guessed it that works again now also  :confused1:

Dyno booked for Wednesday in Liverpool so will upload the graphs afterwards

Thanks again

Pete
