Actually @Notty, how bad are they - if you get a spark plug wire brush (which is quite small), would the rust brush off? You could then douse them in Plus Gas / WD40 to clean them up and they may be good as gold?
Good idea Dave - will order some brushes to try first - did cross my mind to buy a Delkevic 4-2 and change to a wheelbarrow - will the Delkevic fit my standard headers ?  :)

The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

@gsxbarmy

I see no reason why not Geoff, I had the stainless Black Widow collector fitted to mine and it bolted straight on (and that collector is exactly the same dimensions as the Delkevic).

See if yours cleans up though buddy, they do get rather cruded - in fact what you could try doing (whilst you await the wire brush) is give the bolt/bolt thread(s) a good couple of squirts of WD40 so it has time to work around the thread and then when you get the small wire brush, undo each bolt so it loosens the clamp, as then you can get well in with the wire brush to give them a damn good clean. If indeed you can get the bolt out all the better!
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement :lol:

I've been on shift so far this week, so only just catching up with things on here.

A couple of my clamps rusted through and snapped so as already mentioned above I bought 4x stainless Mikalor clamps and fitted them. No need to remove any of the exhaust system to fit them either. The only problem you might encounter depending on how badly they are rusted is that the original clamps are tack welded in place before they are tightened up. I just broke the welds to remove the rotted clamps and then ground the weld down until the clamp sat in the right place. I would offer to fit new ones for you @Notty, but at the moment the Arthritis is so bad I can't even ride, let alone lie on the ground for an hour and fiddle with bike bits...It's p*ssing me right off to be honest :furious:
In the photo you can see 3 of the new clamps fitted.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Off topic but not if it helps Froudy. Have you ever tried magnesium tablets, my arthritis went from useless hands back to almost no pain. Only took a couple of months.
