Not sure I'd lump the GSX1200 Inazuma and GSX1400 together.

The 12 was very closely related to the Bandit, GSXR and GS1200SS.

The 14 really isn't.

I could be wrong and have been many times before.
I thought that the gs1200ss the 1200 inasuma and 1200bandit were all based/developed from the first of the oil cooler gsxr1100
Motors.
I thought the gsx1400 was based loosely on the last of the oilcooled gsxr1100 Motors.

I always thought 14 motor was just a 14 motor. Bit different to others. Im no expert . Apart from that, a good read.

GS1200SS, Inazuma 12, Bandit 12 and the oil cooled GSXR11's all have a lot in common.

The 14 uses a lot of Suzuki ideas and previous build styles not physical parts.
The GSX1400, like the watercooled Bandit 1250, are a lot closer to being clean sheet designs. The 14 is certainly not an evolution of a previous motor in the way the oil cooled ones were from what I've seen.

The 6, 7, 11 and 12's really are big boys Meccano. DOT heads off GSXF and R 750's drop onto 11's and 12's, carbs swap between 7's and 11/12's etc, cam's swap, etc etc.

Try using throttle bodies off another model on the 14 ? 
Try using another models head on the 14 ?
There are a few bits like clutch parts but not much.

Almost any oil cooled engine 6, 7, 11 or 12 will swap between several other frames with minor work, good luck just dropping a 14 lump into any of its smaller siblings frames without getting a lot more serious.

A similar design but not a similar engine.
