Hi

Quick question, when trying to turn the compression knob past either setting 1 or 4 should it lock-out?

As both mine will just rotate round and round, which i assume shouldn't.

          Thanks in advance.

My compression adjuster also rotates round and round..
I am assuming it works by aligning different hole sizes in the valving.. If thats the case then I dont think it matters that it revolves non stop..
Or to put it another way on my bike each setting definitely makes a difference, so it must be working OK.

Mine don't rotate freely "2001" model. I think you've got a problem if they do  :confused1: :confused1: :whatever:

How to answer this - the big black knob should rotate, but in doing so should adjust the suspension leg up and down - on the leg itself, just by the big black knob, it will adjust the number of rings showing - in the picture, it looks like your leg is quite decompressed, normally there should be roughly 3.5 rings showing (varies depending on setup).
There can be 3 situations with that big black knob
- it works and adjusts the suspension
- it spins and does nothing
- it is seized and won't move

The latter 2 mean that it needs some attention as it's not working
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Hi

Thanks for replies, picture used is just one taken from the net as an illustration.

My issue is with the little black compression knob (top left in photo) just rotates, same as @Speedy1959 described - is this as he said?

        Cheers.

Compression knob at the top and rebound wheel at the bottom will just go round and round from 1-4 and 1-4 etc.  The preload knob will have an end stop at both ends (assuming its working)
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Spot on mgjt..
You put it better and more clearly than me..
My spring pre load works fine and obviously will only wind in (or out) so far before it reaches its limits..
Its the compression / rebound adjusters I was referring to..
