Do i expect too much. 2 bikes ive ridden lately, very new models. one is nearly 30g, the other nearly 20g. From new they both surge very badly at slow to normal speeds. euro pollution im told. Its just horrible on both. To fix, im told, need to re map, more dollars. Is this acceptable? I could never enjoy either without sorting. Makes 14 feel like it has an electric motor, smooth i mean. If i pay big bucks, surely it should be better than it is.

The price you pay for getting a modern bike though emissions and compliance.

I'm told the $34,500 H2-SX-SE is similar, and on modern bikes it's considered normal and the price you pay for having something great once it's had a remap.

I wouldn't let it put me off a bike.  I said the same about the first GSX-S I rode but it's easily corrected.

Sure, the older bikes didn't need it, but they can't meet modern emission standards or perform like the new bikes do.

I have absolutely no issues with surging with my Triumph Explorer which is EU4 compliant - nor have I seen such issues mentioned on the Triumph or other bike forums I visit. Bike is silky smooth - much smoother infact than my 14 used to be

Perhaps the new EU4/5 compliant bikes don't like all that water you guys have in your fuel down under.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

No issues with my Ducati or BMW and they are EU4 compliant.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

It seams to me the smaller manufacturers take more time to make sure thier bikes run good from new .while the big 4 don't really seam to care  .
:frustrated:

With fear of being shot down here is my two bobs worth.
Someone is taking the piss.........
In a city like Shanghai ones mind cannot conceive how many vehicles, electric scooters, bicycles, and people exist here. The concrete, steel, plastic, paper, fuel food, clothing that is required to service that city would truly blow your mind. The roading, the water and sanitation, the infrastructure, it just goes on and on and on. The amount of smokers. (and im an addicted smoker, l just don't smoke) The size of one of the two airports l have seen is unbelieveable. We landed then taxied for half an hour to get to our terminal.
Really a motorcycles' emission output from being just legal to just not legal does not make one scrap of difference to the planets atmosphere.
Ok, l've finished my beer now  :soapbox:

Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Agreed Col but then the government would have one less excuse to tax the shit out of us, I pay more tax on my bike than I do for the car.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick
