Barmy, not sure. The batt certainly does more than just start it. Having just replaced my batt notice idle speed slightly faster, coincidence??

KiwiCol

Could well be higher Grog.  If your battery was on the way out, the alternator would be working harder to keep it where it should be, now there's a new battery, the alternator doesn't have the same load on it, hence idle could be up a few rpm.    Whaddya reckon?

I agree about alternator. Used to run 13.6- 13.7 old batt, now 13.8-13.9v. So charge rate slightly altered also.

KiwiCol

That slight charging rate increase is probably due the the few extra rpm?     Wouldn't ya say?

That's right, I remember now, you've got a volt meter on your bars.    :onya:

Certainly gives the generator an easier life. May it live long and prosper

Old bkes and charging problems. This is what I put on temporarily to make sure all is OK while riding.
