Gunge in airbox

When I serviced the bike (for the first time)  on changing the air filter I noticed a bit of guey gunge in the bottom of the air filter box, not a lot but enough to scrape out with your finger.

Is this normal? It was where the pipe comes in from the pairs, this still being in place.

Bike runs fine but thought I would run it past the guru's.

Pull the bung out the airbox drain that hangs underneath near the centre stand. It'll drain out then, just put the bung back when it's empty.

It's normal, it's oil mist from the crank breathers mixing with the cool air in the box & damp in the air.

Yes a very small amount of condensation can get to the airbox as the engine breather goes I to the airbox as long as it's only a small amount all will be good.
just give it a clean and drain as already said..

I wouldn't say normal, but then I would not worry about it either. I suspect as you say its where some oil has come in through the PAIRS as a watery oil, and the water has evaporated leaving just the goo.

If you look at the area in front of the swingarm, you will (or should) find a pipe hanging down with a plug on it. If you remove the plug then that will drain the air box of any watery mess (always replace the plug once drained). If this has not been done then as above, the water evaporates over time leaving the gooey mess.

So IMO caused by the airbox not being drained at previous services, nothing to worry about, clean it up, drain the box and all good.

Even though I ride mine a lot at ermmm..High speeds, I still get a fair bit of condensate from the drain every couple of weeks when I pull the bung and drain it...

I unplug that drain thing every now and then. About a teaspoon of crap comes out. Never worried me.
