yoshi cyclone

Ok, I'm loathe to mess about with exhaust pulses, because i want things to run perfectly, and I'm really not down with these shitty stubby exhausts that choke bikes up - but that yoshi cyclone 4:1 just doesn't rip it up quite enough for me. I want to hear those pops and bangs, and I want it to sound more like my k6 1000.

So, has anyone chopped down a full system, and was it ok or did it suck?

Getting a replacement sleeve is tuff going.. PJ only sell one that is either 110 or 114mm. I need 112. Either way it's a do or die decision - cut the original down, or buy an oversized carbon one and weld shim onto the couplings.

If you want to hear the 'pops & bangs' through the exhaust, make sure you've still got the pairs system installed / enabled.  Most guys either remove it or disable it to get rid of said 'pops & bangs'.  If the bikes 'new to you' it may not be there.

Bike dismantled and put back together by me when I got it. PAIR system intact. But with a 4 metre silencer, you can't hear all of those natural sounds.

Delkevic 30cm carbon is what ya need mate, sounds great but not too noisy. Def gives the bike a bit of 'attitude'

Curiously enough, mr Kiwi, I have just that piece of junk right here under my studio bench, that I use as a nice comfy rocking footrest....

PWM... bit of a rocker as well then?  I noticed the guitar in one of your other posts... and when you mention studio..... well my interest picks up.

You got the bazooka fitted back on then? (4m silencer)

Why would you think a short can would choke up the thing?  Delkevic are basically straight through pipe with a bit of insulation round the edge. 35cm carbon job looks & sounds good (IMO), not half strangled & gagged.

No oem bazooka, full yoshi cyclone system - non separable can @ around 550mm.

And I'm old enough now to know better, having butchered a few bikes in my life, that these silly stubby cans ( delkevic, Sp engineering and the like ) either make an ungainly racket and suck the life out of the power, or with a baffle, stop the bike breathing. I've done enough on/off during dyno's to see the difference. Our bikes ( or other muscle equivalents ) just don't rev, and they need a little bit of backpressure and can length for the exhaust pulses to work right, for half decent performance.

Anyway i've bought myself a carbon sleeve - few welding modifications and I'll start at 450mm and give myself a stop point of 350mm.  Post a vid when it's done

But as the point of the post was going, i kinda just wondered if anyone else had chopped one of these systems down and did they find it detrimental.

I am, Mr. ARH..  nothing makes me happier than giving the bike a fistful listening to W.A.S.P Harder Faster through amplified headphones in my lid.

Been playing about 30 of my 50 years, own more guitars ( and synths ) than I do pairs of trousers...  A few hotrotted Les Pauls, 5 Ibanez RG's, Martin D15m & D28 acoustics, Ovation composite, Strat plus deluxe, Jackson Soloist SL2, a swamp ash special, Virus Ti2, few Korgs, Vsynth GT.... more stomp boxed than I know what do do with..........    All valve amps ...endless amounts of gear in here...    You?

Yep... but Im a bass player    Fender Jazz and a couple of custom fretless jobs I had built way back when.  Also have Fender acoustics... fancied the Martin D28 but she indoors said no ;-).   Been trying to get back into writing and recording recently  (without a lot of success I might add!) - using Ableton...its a far cry from my days in a studio using tape and 64 track mixers!  :rofl2:

You'll be sad to see LP going bust then...

We all need bass players, we'd not be able to keep time otherwise! And some bass players make phenomenal front men - Phil Lynott, Geddy Lee... ( both gods of rock )

Yeah, Gibson, I think they've cut their own throats really, how the fukk do you get to be 500 million in debt ! I love Les Pauls, truly, when you hold them, something other-worldy happens. It will be sad to see the demise of Gibson - but hey, I'll not be without one or two for the remainder of my life.

Nowadays, I'm a logic pro man, but I've tinkered with it all. I can't get on with ableton, although I do route the Arturia step sequencer through it sometimes for drum stuff.

It's a pity you say 'without a lot of success'....  most-times, you just gotta have a story you want to tell. Maybe you ain't got any stories at the moment?

PWM... stories not so much an issue, but my apparent inability to get to grips with a very different technology is another story!  :rofl2: :rofl2:

Guess we shouldn't hijack an exhaust thread any longer - admin will be along shortly  :happy1:

I shall not apologise! Guitars are even more important than motorbikes!

Anyway bud, perhaps you need to shift to some different tech ! And good luck with it  :onya:
