Sorry for you, thats disgusting Dave and sad to have taken the gloss off your time away.
Enough has already been said about the pedigree of the person that did this.
I am driving around in a fairly late model van that l repaired from a total loss. I go to the shops and as im getting out a woman carrying a child opens her car door into my van. I say "you could be a bit more careful" she says "just fcuk off" nice lady....not !!.
Can't wait to sell it and start driving a heap of shit again. Nobody wants to park near you then.
Your rear door shell needs replacing, it will have bent the intrusion bar.

Ah forgot that about the intrusion bar - of course. Bugger. Complete new door then, but probably that's for the best.

Strangely we have the same type of people here who open doors onto one's pride and joy and are as polite. Somehow I think they think the world owes them a living.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Unfortunately not. Checked the hotel CCTV and just out of range dammit.

That indeed is a downer after a nice weekend away

This would classify as a hit and run..right? Why risk doing jail time when the insurance can sort it  :whatever:

Hope it won't cost you to much to get it fixed.

We ( Dutchies ) have a special national fund..started by a coalition of the big insurance parties .. on which we can ( partialy) claim damage done by fender benders anonymous.

-  Maybe you UK guys have that to? They do not advertise their existence so you might have to ask your insurance company

This explains the construction a bit:

Who are we and what do we do?
The Motor Traffic Guarantee Fund was established in 1965. The "Waarborgfonds" is for people who have suffered damage as a result of a motor vehicle such as a moped, car or tractor and can not go to an insurer with that damage. For example if the causer has drowned or if he is not insured. Damage caused by a stolen motor vehicle can also be reimbursed.

We therefore only reimburse damage by a motor vehicle. We do not compensate damage caused by, for example, vandalism.

The "Waarborgfonds" is a non-profit foundation. We are financed from annually fixed contributions from Dutch motor insurers. A part of all WA premiums for motor vehicles goes to the Guarantee Fund.

Sorry to read what some scumbag has done Dave. I look after my car & it's a company car. Only had my New Skoda Superb a couple of months and always careful where I park etc, but already a ding in the door from some arsehole.
Doesn't matter how hard you try, they just don't give a rats & boy it makes me mad.
Doesn't help you, but I hope they stuffed their car up a lot. :furious:

I'm the same Dave, gentlemanly & discrete on here.  Never see anything a bit rough coming from my keyboard.  Think I should change my handle to St Col . . .    :whistling:

St Col, I think we all know your back doors will have been smashed in before!   :laughsign:
Many a Donkey has lost its hoof on the rocky road, don't be that Donkey!

KiwiCol

Why Yes young Red, you is correct that I've had my share of 'smashed doors' in the past.  So yes, I'm familiar with wot Lord Barmy was feeling at the time.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Took for a quote this morning, as I suspected new rear door required, estimate of £1600-£1800 so it will def be an insurance job.

Thanks for all the replies, amazed how many of us have been "victims" of so many twats. Grrrrrr!!!!

Oh boy, I am getting old and senile :confused1: Thought I had never been a victim but now I remember 2 instances. No hit and run though.

1. Returning to car parked on public parking lot and discovered some vandals had slashed the tires on my "heap of junk". I was so mad at this that I kicked the rear fender. I put all I got into that kick. The fender gave way to my kick so that my standing leg got twisted so bad that the result was a spiral fracture topped by a blood clot (thrombosis) for which I had to poke myself for a couple of weeks to administer a blood thinner.  :rofl2: Taught me the value of anger management.

2. Bought 20 bottles of beer, took 1 bottle with me and left the rest sitting on the seat as I was to lazy to carry the lot. At home I took a sip of the beer and spit it out. It was NASTY shit. Went to the pub and got my fill. Dreading to have to return the beer next day. When I got to the car, the beer was all gone. I got a real good laugh out of this as I pictured the scum drinking the sewage.

That's shite, some bastard just did the same thing to my nieces car and left her to stump up £900 to sort it out.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

We have similar, pays out 90% of the claim, I've forgot it's name though ABI or ABD maybe.
