I'm about to spend some cash to upgrade my fork internals.
To help me and others I'd appreciate some data. Many thanks in advance.
1 what did you do / have done to the forks
2 what did it cost
3 what's your rating out of 100 on the improvements

i took my forks a long time ago to  a suspension shop. got sick of adjusting etc to make them better. read all the mcr settings, tried lots. just wasnt working. he fitted wilbers progressive springs, wilbers oil, adjusted to my weight. ive never touched adjusters again. they are brilliant. no more diving under brakes or between gear change. cost was $400. best mod ive done, by a long way. supple over bumps but total control. 100/100 for result. was offered re valving, lots more bucks, not sure how it couldve made them better. i saw your post on rear shocks. similar story. dont waste money on new ones. re build, new springs n oil. work fine for me. another 400 bucks. done by same suspension shop. you can replace them, have a look at prices. i cant see any advantage replacing for my riding.

sorry, ill double post. what i was trying to say is that for 400 bucks my shocks work fine. if i had lots im sure id get wibers, ohlins, maxton. they must be superb. problem for me is cost. wilbers 1100 to 1400, ohlin just under 2 grand. maxton im not sure. there are cheaper but the rebuild on stock  in my mind is probably better than the cheap ones.

The forks as standard on the GSX1400 are pretty basic, best you can do as standard is as Grog says which essentially is change the springs and oil. As standard they can't be re-valved - parts not available.

Having said that - the only people I know of in the UK who will re-valve your forks are Maxtons, cost (from memory) is about £200 and they can do it as they manufacture the parts themselves to fit (but only provide this as a custom service - you can't buy a re-valve kit from them). http://www.maxtonsuspension.co.uk/

Uprating the springs, changing the oil and getting them setup by a suspension specialist is definitely worthwhile. Springs are about £80 from Ohlins or Hagons and a suspension setup will cost you about £80 -£100 (that's for front and rear).

Personally - I start with just changing the oil and getting the suspension setup by a specialist and take from there. You can do the oil yourself (http://gsx1400owners.org/forum_test/index.php?topic=188.0 ) for about £10 - so under £100 including a proper suspension setup (depends where you live, but look at Maxtons, FTR Suspension, Steve Jordan Motorcycles - any suspension specialist essentially)

Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement
