The GSX has been a little neglected so far this year. Having acquired the GTR in February and spent the better of the biking days since then trying to put some miles on it in order to get the first service within sight (and then explore the outer reaches of the rev band) the other bikes haven't had a look in.
Today I dug the GSX out of the back of the garage; it felt like it was its turn. A blast out from Stourbridge led to Montford Bridge near Shrewsbury reminded me how much I love the bike. I'd half forgotten that it had had a new pair of tyres for its MOT in September and after scrubbing them in before winter set in they hadn't done many miles. It was feeling really sharp in the corners and the engine was enjoying the run. I'm a fairly steady rider but today was one of those days when nothing was going to be in my way for long.
With the sun shining and no need to turn home yet I pushed on to Llangollen and then up the Horseshoe Pass and settled for a short while with a coffee at the Ponderosa. You can tell the season has started when you are having to spend time looking for somewhere to park a bike.
I stopped off at Valle Crucis Abbey on the way back down the pass and gave the camera something to do while wandering through the ruins for half an hour.
Back on the bike, I realised that I had probably overstayed in Wales, I'd made a promise to be home for four O'clock and the SatNav was suggesting I was going to be there for twenty past. Still, sometimes it is good to have a challenge and today the GSX and I were at one.
(More photos of Valle Crucis on my Flickr stream if pictures are your thing: https://www.flickr.com/photos/rynglieder/albums )
