Title: BBC News
Post by: grog on Sunday, 23 August 2026, 07:02 PM
Tonight I watched BBC News, never have before. I hardly watch our local crap. Just thought something different, insight to where you Northerners live.So different to here but same old gloom doom. Much more on wars happening,we really don't get a lot on Russia or American frogwit stupidity.Just a one off,now back to important stuff, footy, golf, bike videos, music.

I have pretty much stopped watching the UK news, the same as I stopped reading a daily newspaper 30+ years ago

All the UK press want to do is publish & report negative stuff, we end up talking ourselves into recession, or start believing the twisted lies that they present

Typical example, Andy Burnham has recently been appointed as PM, in my eyes he could maybe do a good job as he did for Manchester as Mayor, yet the press already are concentrating and looking for the slightest thing that they think is wrong and twist it 360 degrees, even if it is just a comment taken out of context. Give the guy a bloody chance I say and get behind him, he has years of corrupt leadership to straighten out & the biggest enemy or threat is the UK press, the alternative is another multi millionaire who will be out to line his own pockets!

The press here is our worst enemy. They seem to talk up a good recession but anything positive doesn't rate a mention.

the Biased Broadcasting Corporation has turned into an organisation dedicated to the destruction of any decency & pride in British culture. It also does it's best to link absolutely any story to the carbon myth & it's imaginary affect on climate. It's not been fit for purpose for years.

The BBC are a total joke, there agenda and biased reporting are just getting worse, it's not so much of what they say, it's what they don't say. Same narrative over and over again.

The worst insult is that we have to pay the Biased Broadcasting Company to spout their shit.

We have ABC here publicly funded. They've become infected by the left leaning hommos.
I call them The GayBC, they're into diversity to the detriment of real journalism.
I'm pushing to make it a subscription service and remove all taxpayers funding I reckon they'll last 5 minutes.
Wokeness causes so much misery.

Sounds like your ABC has done exactly the same as our BBC Chris.

Hard to find balanced honestly reported news.

Even our local "Courier Mail" had a pretty low standard.

Many years back we had a group ride down through the Gold Coast Hinterland. One young lady misjudged a corner and came off. We suspected a break or fracture (later turned out it wasn't). When the Ambo's got there so did a reporter. He decided to get in her face and take pictures. A couple of the lads stepped in and relocated him away from her.
The headline was along theblinesbof "High speed hoons threaten reporter"

There used to be a bumper sticker here...
"Did it really happen or did you read it in The Courier Mail".

Nothing changes.

Had a similar write up in the Stourport News some years back, while do some campaigning for MAG.

Spoke to a local councilor in the bar of The Severn Trow who, had agreed to support us.

The front page of the paper, along with a photo of the councillor read. Motorcyclists terrorise councillor, in late night attack at his home.

Confronted the journo. Who I knew but never, got a retraction printed.

I guess if the Journo gets a front page story they get a bonus, they need sensationalism and hype to sell their stories.  They was no story there Mr Gee, so they stretched the facts to breaking point and hey presto, what have we got now? Looks like front page for you today son, well done, here's a nice wee bonus.   Ya can see why they do it.  Thinking about them, journos are about as bad as a bloody car salesman!

My brother has always been in the media but as a photo journalist. His albums are pretty amazing. He has some lovely photos of Princess Diana, Elton John, Dick Emery loads of musicians. Lots of motorsport pics. He got the only photos of the French Rainbow Warrior bombers. They were printed on  the front of Time magazine. He's been punched, he's been run over, he's seen things that I'm pleased I haven't.  He reckons nothing compares to the Fleet Street paparazzi rat pack. He now works in London for Chinese Global TV... He tells some good stories about that job too.
As a cadet one of the first things he learned was that "if it bleeds it leads" So in the last fifty years nothings improved.
