Title: Delkevic headers/collector
Post by: Stevel3 on Thursday, 20 August 2026, 10:38 AM
I currently have the factory headers and collector on my 2008. Considering changing out headers and collector for Delkevic ones. Most likely keeping the Staintune muffler at this stage. My big concern is how discoloured the headers become being single skinned. My current ones are a light gold colour. I don't want dark or dirty brown colour. I like to keep my bike clean but don't fancy the idea of having to continually polish the headers to keep them looking nice. My other option is to change to 4 into 2 if I can find a footpeg muffler bracket. I know the headers dont change but the 4 into 2 collector has side covers to hid the discolouration.

Always stock headers/ collector on mine.First up polish was a bit of effort, last 15 yrs just a quick go over maybe once a year.I was once thinking of Delkevic headers, slightly larger internal diameter. Someone advised they change colour so never bothered. No idea if true.🤷🏼

Mines got the full stainless Akra 4-1, headers go a lovely bronze colour.

Don't waste riding time polishing stuff that just goes darker.  Oem headers are double skinned, but the sound and improved torque from larger bore headers cannot be discounted.

I've had 4-1 titanium Yoshi headers from day dot.
I can't say I've ever polished them in 24+ years of ownership.
I don't clean my bikes as often as I should either 😎.
Don't judge me Barmy 🙏

Lucky you blokes, full Akra & Cyclone. Dodo teeth more common now. Akra say 16 bhp gain on their site, not made anymore. When I fitted tri oval could notice a difference mid range. Dunger 14 I just missed couple of weeks back, had full nice Cyclone, $2800. Pity I missed bike, swap exhausts, re sell, free Yoshi. 😤

Twas me...that's why I went back to OEM Grog, the single skin stainless didn't take long to look manky.

I can't praise Delkevic enough, I had their prototype headers for an old Tiger 1050 this January, none of the other aftermarket suppliers were making them. When fitting the headers it was evident that the quality was good as was the fit. I did a bit of a how to set of instructions which they now send out with each set. Anyway a month or two after I had fitted them I took my bike down to Delkevic for them to do some marketing photos for their website, when I went back later in the day to collect the bike they had fitted another new set of headers and fitted an end can of my choice FOC then posted the original back home for me

Regarding discoloring, they did bronze pretty quickly but didn't look manky at all, I was happy for them to stay like that on the Tiger, on the GSX I think I would have been polishing them every few weeks to get rid of the bronzing as I am an OCD clean freak

The blue bike in the link was my Tiger but sold her on now, loved the look of the bike but just couldn't get on with her and was only ever really intended as a winter project, spoilt by the 14 I guess  :clapping:

There's a reason I take photos from further away. No way my 1402 is as pristine as Hooli's Bloo Thing.

My Bloo Thing is far from pristine, but the glare from the shiny bits means you can't see the rough bits.

Mainly, I wanted the use of the centre stand again.

Has to be removed when fitting the Akra.  :onya:

Plus it had been on for a while and I fancied a change of look.  :smitten:

Agree about centrestand. Much easier than paddock stands etc. IMO
