Title: Oil return pipe (internal)
Post by: SteveJ8672 on Saturday, 08 August 2026, 04:28 AM
Hi Folks,

I removed the sump cover today to start overhauling the oil strainer etc, and as I removed the sump cover the oil return pipe dropped out, is this normal as I put it back where it should be and it's a very loose fit.

Yep, they do that. There's a wee trick / mod you can do to stop the pipe falling off when you go to put the sump back on, I did it, but can't remember what it was, :confused1:  but I recall doing one.  :frustrated:

Yup mine did the same. I think I bent the bracket halfway along it so it gripped a bit better before I refitted the sump.

I too can confirm it is a very loose fit.

I closed up the locating tang a wee bit with pliers so if would grab better
