My brother Scott lives on a small island close to France called Jersey.
He's been here for 9 days and enjoying our "winter". He's in shorts and shirt walking 10,000 steps a day and getting a suntan.
However all my relatives in Europe are whinging about extreme heat 🥵.
What's the real story ?
Damned hot over here for a change. Mid thirties and barely any, breeze. :onya: :clapping:
I've seen mid 30s C for several days, it has been bloody hot. Probably normal for convictshire but we're not used to it and everything breaks, fridges and freezers in supermarkets are broken everywhere for example.
It's just a hot, for us, summer week but all the climate change doom mongers are screaming about the end of the world. It's so obvious they're lying that there's even a meme going around showing a forecast from the 80s of the same temps where everything on the temp map is green and today's map is bright red.
Yeah. It is hot.
Warmer than desired.
We are not used to that and because of that most of us do not have an air conditioned home. I am amongst those.
With some fan's and are proper home venting and the use blinds and curtains
I feel it is ok.
I just got back from a 3 day music festival in the Netherlands called PinkPop ( kinda like London's Hyde Park ) and you need to adapt to the heat.
We ( my family ) drank a lot of water and visited the shade a lot. For us it was a proper festival. Amongst those whome just kept on chugging beers , used no SPC and such, some got a heat stroke.. i blame reverse Darwinism :whistling:
On a personal note : my 74YO Mom is in the hospital.
During this warm period, she dediced to re-enact the vomit spraying scene from the Exorcist but only after having the runs for 2 days. We do not think the heat triggered this but is does not help recovery either.
And the Airco of the car broke down.a VW Golf with 300.000kms on it - the condensor is faulty. Could have happened anytime with those kind of miles on it.
So... not to bad IF you adapt to the heat.
Being British we like to complain, when it's hot we complain about the heat, when it's cold we complain, when it rains we complain, when it doesn't rain we complain. I thought I was 100% British but I don't mind the high temps we are having so I'm a bit concerned now, I feel a complaint coming on.
Yes @Hooli it gets warm here plus add in high humidity and it's soul destroying.
However we're set up for it with plenty of windows and ceiling fans plus a/c when it comes time to sleep.
Those doomsayers you speak of, can they show you any evidence of rising sea levels anywhere in the world ?

My 03 Golf's just running in, at 238,000 miles (383,000 km) and i'm pleased to say that the air-con works fine. My partner's 08 BMW's a/c has run up the curtain to meet the choir invisible, so we've been slumming in my Golf, while keeping cool.

I don't drink wine, it tastes of mould.

Don't be silly! they can't even show rising temps without 'correcting the historical record' by pretending people up till the 1980s couldn't read a thermometer.
