20 January 2026 was our 9th birthday! (as gsx1400owners.org). Epic. We're flying toward double digits.
Seems like we started only yesterday..... :onya:
We still have a lot of the original members too, some drop off but that's got to be expected, and we're still attracting new members. :boogie:
What happend to the original site if you don't mind me asking
P
As far as I recall Gnome ran it & lost interest for reasons I can't remember.
No gossip there as I don't think I ever knew the story either.

Just wondering aa I knew the site had been going for a long time.
Paul
I'd like to know too tbh, but never found out at the time.
Hey mates! Here's to more miles/kilometers for all of us!
I see some of you have titles like donor/etc, let me know if there's any link to donate towards the maintenance and mission of this community. I could chip in as I already benefit from y'all knowledge and all the downloadable material!
Thanks!
It's in the announcement section - https://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php?topic=8462.0

No it wasn't Gnome Andy, he wasn't the techie behind it - can't remember his name now, but it was all down to the guy who did all the backups etc who lived up in SCotland, didn't pay attention to the site, failed to update it, in the end it broke and got lost and it took him months to restore it. Still wasn't that good afterwards, he threw his toys out the pram, took it down and basically sold the original org name off to a chocolate frog consortium. I think then he thought that he'd had the last laugh, however, although I wasn't admin at the time, when the site came back up after the original loss, I downloaded all the techie stuff and pictures "just in case" the site went down for good - which it did when he got the hump - so when
@VladTepes started this forum, I was in the fortunate position that I had the majority of technical info from the old forum and thus was able to re-create all those years of knowledge that resided in the old org for others to benefit from.
Synk is the word you're looking for Dave.

Absolutely correct.

Think he was from Yorkshire somewhere. There were some real characters as I remember, Jay, 2Hat both their wives, Tigger, Lucky 7, Beano & Jak... to name a some, so many more whose faces I can still see but names escape me like may other things these days. We are very lucky to have such a great site/community & I doff my cap to those who resurrected the site & do a sterling job keeping it running, sure is a top place

Aye Sheff is/was up this way somewhere, I see him very occasionally at rallies.
Jay was a prick & 2hat was a word unrepeatable on polite internet as far as I'm concerned, but opinions differ. Lucky was a good bloke, I wonder what he's doing now? I know people still in contact with a lot of them, but I've not bothered with most. Still see Baso & Shazzo occasionally, need to go visit them at some point really as it's been a while.

I think that would have been Magnus... or Maverick .
One was his screen name...the other was his real name
Was it Magnus who smashed his camera lens at Inchnadamph? He had a DSLR mounted on the bars for the ride out & it caught a stone during the ride.
Same trip I nearly rode into a cliff when my front brakes decided they weren't braking, still no idea how I got around that bend.

As Dave says, it was Synk, up in Scotland, who maintained (haha) the site. Gnome (another Dave i think) was heavily involved in admin. Synk ran a Turbo 14, i seem to recall.

Sheff's from the Scunny area and still lives up there.
