Title: Newbie’s question
Post by: ajs18s on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, 12:26 PM
So I have dropped the hammer on a new bike, well new to me. 2004 all black with only 39000 ks and in excellent condition. Photos to follow once I'm home. I'm going to be attaching a sidecar in the near future, apart from removing the centre stand I'm going to be replacing the original twin exhaust system. Yes I will take advice on other's advice but I love the look of a particular system. I'm going to attach a picture and ask for advice on this option.
Hey I'm loving this new site. I appreciate all help and advice.
Cheers all.
Stephen

Be warned it's apparently a right pain to change the oil filter with a Yoshi system. I can't remember if you have to remove part of the exhaust to do it or what, just that people always curse them for it.

You'd be worth looking at a Power Commander & mapping if you're going to a single side exhaust as it changes how they breathe quite a lot.

Is the Yoshi system pictured one you already own or can get cheaply?
As someone mentioned check oil filter access but it might be worth the hassle if the price is right.
I have an Akro system but someone else took the hit when he owned the bike (Thanks @Bov ) Exhausts can be very expensive.

I cant run a centrestand with the Akro but that won't be an issue for you with a sidecar. It's a PITA for me.

That system I attached is just something I like the look of.

I've had a few Yoshi systems but never seen one with those springs. Maybe added by a previous owner but I can't see the header pipe bends being different.

The oil filter comes out easily if you undo one of the lower oil line fittings. Two M6 cap screws but don't lose the O ring. Doing that gives you plenty of room to get the filter out but also drains out more old oil.

Great bike to fit a chair especially if you fit a leading link front end but anything you do is wasted if you don't find a decent colour to paint the bike.
