Title: Reaction Time
Post by: Eric GSX1400K3 on Friday, 23 January 2026, 02:05 PM
Does anyone test their situational awareness and reaction times?   Just did mine here: https://www.justpark.com/creative/reaction-time-test/

Interesting how as you get older your reaction time slows, however high level cognitive activities like tennis, badminton, squash, driving and riding motorcycles helps to keep the senses sharp.

My reaction time on first go was 382ms, or the reaction time of a 29 y.o.  Best I got after a few tries was 287, and the response was "we are not sure you are human".

This is about the best I got,  you get faster at it when you know what's coming.  If we grabbed for the front brake as quick as hitting that stop sign we'd be on the deck!

Got no use for testing. As there are two guys in me who are responsible for my reaction time who are 6 and 5 yo, it's going to be a long time before I have to start worrying about reaction time.

It's a different, at times difficult, issue when it comes to the HOW to react. The various animals in me often don't agree on the course of action that should be taken. Usually one animal had it with the negotiation and just acts quickly.

BTW ... (insert what you want to save you reading) ... a mate of mine told a guy who tried a body check on me when he asked "What is this guy": (insert title) (insert last name) ... THE ANIMAL. He got it wrong: At that occasion I was a tree (think ancient German Oak).

This shit happened again several decades later. Same result. Was at my weakest then but the oak was still standing strong.

Yep, I am a certified nut case. Told my therapist (one of 'em) that I was a chameleon. She gifted me with a bottle cap that had a chameleon painted on it. Still got it 13 years later.

About being a nut case. There is this movie about a bunch of nut cases on the loose (not their choice). My favorite line is: "it is great to be young and insane". I'd answer: It's even greater to be old and insane.

All good Andre, long as you can deal with it. I have a huge Mate, bricklayer always, so strong. Certified schizo and he is. Rides so fast. R1 & Aprillia.  Great bloke but need to be careful sometimes.
