Title: Damn & Bloody Blast!
Post by: Will14 on Monday, 13 October 2025, 05:50 AM
Well I went out for a little bimble on the 14 this afternoon to a local bike meeting area, all good then as it was still nice & rather than heading straight home I decided to head towards the coast for a cuppa, found a cafe open & parking place for the bike, that's when things went wrong. A lapse in concentration, thought I had kicked the side stand fully down but hadn't, over she went! I thought I had saved her but lost my footing, I did just enough to save major damage other than the Magneto cover which now has gravel rash, the clutch lever snapped. a scuff on the left side mirror  and a very bruised ego. I managed to lift the bike up as if it were a 125, I guess adrenaline or something kicked in

Mirror and clutch lever already replaced with spares that I have

If anyone has a Magneto cover surplus to requirements that they would like to sell please let me know, had a look on Ebay but nothing there at the moment

Gutted at the moment is an understatement

Will I'm feeling for you.
Similar thing happened to me I did catch the bike and stop any gravel rash or lever damage. I did however tear my left hamstring (4cm tear) which required multiple Physiotherapy sessions to complete the recovery at considerable cost.

Gutted at the moment Chris, 2001 & she's a minter (or was) but sounds like I got off lightly compared to you, banged my right knee some how, not sure that is even possible but nothing like you experienced, must have been very painful

All I can remember is once she had touched down I came over the bike and did a backwards roll before jumping up to lift her up, proper commando style, I did have a bit of a chuckle to myself on the ride home, must of looked like a proper clown. A passer by ran over to help me get her up fair play, but she was upright by the time he got to me. The engine was still running while she was lying down until I hit the kill switch, so much for the tip over switch

After a few choice words to myself and a quick check of the bike I was gone, the oil pressure light stayed on for a short time after starting her back up but went off before I started moving and seems OK now, I guess the oil wasn't where it should have been after the tip initially

Cheers

Pete

Sorry to hear about the drop Pete, but glad you got off relatively unscathed.

I suspect most of us have experienced the powerful combination of adrenaline and embarrassment!

At least an easy fix Mate. I tipped mine totally upside down on a mud track. Wife was under it, exhaust on her thigh which got fried. Somehow i picked it up, a mirror was about only damage.I also felt stupid, she healed, was horrific at the time. Just something to talk about now.

It's happened to every biker and if not, they are lying.
