About to take ownership of a new to me GSX1400 K4 - looking forward to many years of ownership and fun with the big old beast. My mate who owned a ZRX has been ear bashing me to get a big UJM and I've been hunting one down or a Zephyr for a Sanctuary style fun. Cheers everyone, see some of you out there! :salute: :salute:
Welcome Mate enjoy👍Where in Oz?
G'day P you've chosen THE UJM in a GSX1400. Most others have 5 speed gearboxes. You'll never be looking for 7th lol 😂
Welcome to the nuthouse 👍🍺🍺
Gidday mate, welcome aboard. Hope the search goes well, we like pic's . . .
Welcome to the forum Uncle-P. :onya:
Welcome...you'll have some great times on the 14.

I'll upload some pics when she's home. Hopefully over the weekend. 40k k's been sitting a little while so I've got a little bit of work to get her on the road - fork seals, brake lines and fluid, pads and some blinkers.. parts are ordered - so straight to work on saturday!

Haha - I hear I won't be doing much down shifting on the 14 either, sounds like she'll crack on from most gears.

Sounds like you know your way around bikes, but make sure you drop the yokes out & check/grease the steering bearings while you've got the forks out. The Suzuki factory appeared to have a grease shortage & they often go rusty, especially the lower one. Oddly they often feel ok when turned until quite bad.
Another Aussie! Where abouts in Oz?
Welcome.
I'm a big fan of the Zephyrs, I've had a few, but the quite tame 750's are the only one with proper old Skool lines, the 11 is just odd looking and has an 8 plug head and ugly frame castings etc.
The 14 is a far better bike than the Zephyrs. The ZRX is an interesting alternative, but I'd still take the GSX.
Of the ZRX, XJR, CB and GSX the GSX is the only one I'm watching the sales pages for.
Welcome Uncle-P. Once you've done your maintenance and servicing. You will have a bike that is the envy of many. They are still quite the head turner.
Enjoy
I agree Col, spend the time adjusting etc. Theirs a list on must dos on here. Takes a while , then its just ride enjoy. Without all adjustments etc just a bike
Welcome to all things 14 U-P

Sydney mate, I was on spotto this arvo driving a bus on military road and watched one pull out at Spit Junction headed north bound.

Yea I was thinking the 750 for that exact reason, the lines are much nicer on it and has that classic Kwaka style. Tame yes, but around the same power stock as my SV - I had thoughts of an AC Sanctuary type build, upgraded carbs etc a nice Over Racing swing arm and just generally making it look fancy.
Very happy with the 14, pulls like a bloody freight train, so I like that a lot.

Yea the more blokes I tell around the depot I work at that ride, the more pouted lips exclaiming an envious "PHWOOOOAR!" I seem to get. I'm really happy with the purchase, definitely a dream bike for me. Big UJM :whistling:

The ZR750 is a close relative and has a genuine connection to the old Z650, Z750, Gpz750 and the 750 Turbo. If I was a better mechanic with deep pockets I'd love one with a 750 turbo motor (it's been done) but a better idea may be a oil cooled GSX / GSXR750 motor which still has old Skool looks. I normally only chase after Suzuki's but I could find a home for another 750 Zephyr.

Yea I have seen quite a few nice Kawazuki builds.. very interesting in terms of cross brand means, in creating an end goal.

Welcome mate, I'm on the other side of the Island. You mention Zephyrs ... my Son has recently rebuilt two, one I sold for him and the other is a keeper. I'll have it in the shed in a few weeks.
Welcome Uncle-P

Beautiful build mate, really nice.. as said, very much in the lineage of great UJM Kawa's.. maybe a Kawazuki build in the future for me..
The 750 Zephyr is the only one in the Zephyr range I'd buy.
I don't normally watch Kawasaki sales but I'd find a home for a 7 again...

Welcome Uncle-P
Cracking choice of bike, I've often fancied a Zephyr too but 2 bikes is 1 too many in my better half's opinion...

Sadly not,"The lady is not for turning"
To be fair I'm well loaded with diving kit which I should get rid of, I live in the hope of doing more 65 meter dives, but with present health any sort of diving just isn't going to happen.
If anyone needs some technical diving kit I could help them out.
