Title: New member from Oz and thanks!
Post by: bigtom on Monday, 29 September 2025, 01:24 PM
Hi all,

Recently bought an 07 1400 and I love it.  Thanks to the forum's knowledge I was able to make a couple of quick mods (bars and tail tidy) to personalise and improve comfort.

Incredibly lucky that there was a bloke selling an Ermax tail tidy kit only 45mins drive from me, he said he'd had it for 3 years and couldn't move it.  Snagged it for $150 which was a steal.

Went with another forum members bars and got the Pro Taper Windham's and they're great (have since removed the risers in the pic).

The install of the Ermax took me a whole day but got there in the end and I'm stoked with the result.  Some low profile mirrors and levers on the way v. soon.

Thanks all!

Thank you both.  I know everyone must say the same but this forum is an incredible source of info and knowledge.  Going to give her a service before an overnight trip to Balranald this weekend.  Can't wait.

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

Put 1000km's on the bike over the weekend.  What an amazing cruiser.  Only 2 small hiccups.  First was me misjudging the fuel level and nearly running out in the middle of nowhere.  2nd was after trying to start the 2nd day it just appeared to be completely dead like the battery died.  1 minute later I tried again and it was alive.  Was like I'd triggered the immobiliser or something.. but it went away and no issues rest of the day.

Well done Mate, thats a decent ride. First fuel light flash is 6 litres left, around 100 k. As for other prob, id be having a look. Batt test first, then every connection you can find, extra earth from batt also helps, all posted on here. 👍

You didn't leave the kill switch on did you?     1000k's in 2 days is good going for sure.

Thanks mate.

I was freaking out as I had 70kms left till a petrol station when it started. Good to know re: litres.

I've found the threads and will be going through one by to to find the issue.

Thank you.  The trip home was way tougher than the trip up.

Wasn't the kill switch in this case I reckon as there were zero lights on anywhere.

Will post up when I find the issue

Sounds like the batteries or a main wire/fuse playing up. Good luck finding it, it's always a pain to know if you've fixed an intermittent fault.
