Hi all
My 1400 has been off the road for a couple of months while I replaced the fuel pump and fuel pump wiring. Putting the tank back on and the main fuel line is sticking out the side of the tank and is blocking the side panel from being fitted back on.
All the vids I have seen showing the tank coming off show the fuel line going straight back and underneath. ON my bike the outlet is almost 90 degrees to the side and I can't force the hose underneath the tank without kinking it.
I took a photo while taking the tank off (which is below) showing the routing. There's a hole drilled in the side panel for a cable tie, and there's a cutout in the panel for the fuel hose as well, so there's a bodge here somewhere.
It doesn't look like there's a way moving the outlet without snapping it, meaning a new set of throttle bodies would be needed.
Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks all, apologies for the long post

Here's a pic of mine with the tank off, yours does seem to stick out to the left more than mine, excuse the undertank filth, I think it was the first time it had been off in many years
That pic of the fuel line with the wrap on it looks right (from memory) the fuel hose is routed that way, yours seems too long, but it can't be, so I thinking perhaps the other end of the hose (at the pump) is pointing in the wrong direction?
Again, from memory, the outlet from the fuel pump (to join that hose to) is in the centre. Just wondering if you have the pump installed with the outlet on the left? I'll put a link to a pic showing how the underside of the tank should look, so that it all fits.

Fuel pump only fits one way in the tank, the spacing of the allen head cap bolts in the mounting flange sorts that out. From the pump outlet theres a right angle connector for the efi fuel hose (hp line) to the fuel rail connector. Yours looks like it doesnt have this and someone has fitted a longer than std fuel line with straight fittings. You can shorten it, you just need the proper clamps from the hose to the fitting, a std jubilee or worm clip isn't right (enough to get you home), but not a permanent fix.
I was trying to remember if the fuel rail end had a straight or 90degree connector, seems Eric has answered that & solved it.

on mine at least, from the tank to the hose its 90deg. From the hose to the rail its straight. See the fiche drawing:
I couldn't remember 100% & obviously can't pop outside to check now.
Thanks for all your replies everyone.
Phill P, many thanks for the pic, much appreciated. So this shows the outlet is completely different from mine, yours is screwed to the injector rail and is in line with the frame, where mine is one piece and almost goes out 90 degrees.
Wondering if my throttle bodies are off a different bike? Bandit 1250 maybe?
I have the right angle connector at the fuel pump, so these are all good.
I'm thinking now to shorten the fuel line and replace the straight connector with a second right angle one to bring the hose inside the frame rail as per edited pic.
Would fitting this be ok for the fuel rail? Would the right angle restrict the amount of fuel going to the injectors?
Thanks again all.
Putting another right angle fitting would not restrict fuel flow or pressure.
The fuel hose has clip connectors at either end, it's not screwed to the fuel rail.
Your pic's look right, like it's the hose routing that makes it come too far to the left?

In a word no, 14's have a unique spacing for the TBs.
I'd say the difference is early & late TBs, the fuel rail did change somewhere between K2 & K5. I suspect rail would swap, but I've no proof of that & you'll never find one without buying a complete set of TBs for lots of money.

your first photo is of the low pressure fuel line from the pump bypass that runs back to tank at the rear connector. I've put a small inline filter in that line, plus the high pressure external filter in the line to the rail. The lp line can be your standard fuel hose, the hp line has to be efi rated fuel hose (multilayer and fabric braided and rated for the pressure), luckily you can buy both in per metre lengths from any decent auto parts store.
I have only ever seen the rail connector with the clip in connector, never screwed in.
gld, just had a look. Youre input fitting facing out over the cutout in airbox to left. Mine is at least 25-30 mm inside that cutout,is all one piece, like yours, not screwed on. Looks like yours has been turned outwards🤷, probably break straightening it, then youd have a major issue.

K2 only for the screwed in one I think. They've got a different fuel rail that needs the cutouts in the cover plates on the side.
Looks like the connector has been turned or bent outwards, mine sits at 90deg to the rail, so inline with the long axis of the bike.
Thanks again everybody, I properly appreciate the help!
So yeah it does seem like one of the previous owners bent the outlet outwards, no idea why, and I know if I bend it back it'd snap (a new rail is around £300, argh).
So now the hunt begins for a replacement 90 degree connector, unfortunately Ebay is full of this fitting type and pretty much nothing else, which I don't think is going to fit. Off to the bike shop after work tomorrow then lol
Take the rail off and get fitting refitted correct position.Id be brazing it but whatever works.

From memory it's two screws to remove the rail so it's not a TB out job, makes it much easier.
Yup, as per Hooli's advice, two bolts or screws. You can see the lh one in my photo, just under the hose connector. The outer one holds that bit of plastic on thet hides injector#1. You will need to disconnect the injector connectors and cut the little zip ties but once unbolted, just wiggle it out sideways to the left.
