Title: Michlin Road 6 ??
Post by: Chappers on Sunday, 10 August 2025, 04:57 AM
Time for new rubber and am going to have the Road 6's, should i have the GT version and is it worth getting a 55 rear over a 50 ?  Only ever ride solo, quite sprited.
Cheers guys  :salute:

Never bought them but ridden bikes with them. I wouldn't be too fussed about the GT with its stiffer build for proper tourers.

They suit the 14, a good life span and suitable grip and feedback. You'll find tyres that are cheaper, or those that offer more grip, but I can see why a lot of folk are happy with the 6's.

Personal taste but almost all my bikes with 190/50's on 6" rears get changed to 55's. I like the small change in height, profile and feel / tip in.

I like my 55 profile standard Road 6's. Get good mileage, happy in the wet, like Tony  I think they tip in better.... and they come in black. Done plenty of miles loaded and two up. My next set of tyres will be the same.

Solo riding and spirited !
Wow a new can of worms 🪱 🤮
You're probably better off with a sports tyre than tour tyre bud. Unless you're concerned about mileage.
Something to ponder 🤔

I make no secret of my love for S22's / 23's. They suit a more spirited solo rider.

The downside is a shorter tyre life.

95% of the time I'm sure I'd be just as happy with a Road-6.

The 22 / 23's are my indulgence and security for the 5% when I want to push harder, or when more grip will help my lack of ability.

I'd happily consider Road 6's on my Bandit, RF or 1400.
Horses for courses.

Have had Pirelli or Michelin forever. Next set S23. Hard to beat their reviews and not caring about longevity nowadays.Always been a compromise, sticky/ mileage. Just want to try a no compromise.

Well i don't ride in the wet if I can help it, and don't do enough miles to worry about mileage. Currently got BT 023 which were new when I got the bike and are average at best and have no feeling in the wet, so the s23 might be worth a look.

Traditional slipstone that, see how terrible the 021s that replaced the awful 020s were.

I had 023s on the Hornet when I got it, would have been ok for a budget tyre. Crap for the price though.

One up for the Road 6. At the moment I have Road 5. Sticky, confident and longevity.
