Title: 14 wont start
Post by: Merrick on Tuesday, 01 July 2025, 03:38 PM
Hi, got a K7, been repaired after a step off, bike was running fine before accident, now can't get the bike to start, checked plugs, sparking, checked fuel pump, pressurising, fuel flowing, bike turns over, all lights etc working, checked wiring, hoses etc, can't see anything wrong, no fault codes coming up, getting very frustrating, any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

Battery, when it gets low the 1400 is known to spin the engine fine but not starting, a new battery usually sorts it.  You could try a charge or you could try a voltmeter across it and see what voltage is there when you try to start it, should be above 10 volts.

Agree Mick. Even jump box on to boost it. Next is to decide fuel or spark. Spray of aerostart in air box will give momentary start if lack of fuel. Spark needs to be tested with HEI tester, high energy ignition. Good luck.

I wonder if the tip over is still activated?  It's a simple enough mechanism so shouldn't be, but that could also be it.  Worth a check anyway.

Clutch switch buggered? May be worth just shorting across and see if she starts (alternately if you have aftermarket levers, if they've been adjusted by whoever fixed the bike after the accident, they could be the issue (as aftermarket ones can activate the clutch switch if adjusted incorrectly

Shouldn't be the clutch switch if the starter works.

What work was done on it? I'd be suspecting something not plugged back in.

G'day, got the bike started, was a couple of issues, 2 my own doing, one part of the throttle body not seated in the manifold rubber properly, sucking air, 2nd dislodged O ring, partially blocking fuel feed to pump, sorted, bike now running, now code28 comes up, the STVA, something else for me to look at, thanks to all for advice, appreciate it.

I had the C28 code for ages. Turns out it was the Secondary Throttle position sensor (STP) for mine, as the STVA compares its value against that and from 2+2 gets 5 and throws the code. It's wear inside the sensor, if you remove it, and slowly rotate the little dial while hooked up to a multimeter, you will get a part of the range where you don't get a reading or an inconsistent one.  I replaced that and the TPS, got both from Webike Japan, genuine suzuki and very cheap compared to Suzuki AU prices.

Cool, I'll check that out, thanks.

Aye late response here as I've been away.
C28 was the STP for me too, as said above the bike uses it to know where the STVA is. Provided you see/hear the STVA move when you turn the ignition on then it won't be that. There is another fault where a magnet falls off inside & that stops it moving as the magnet is part of the motor.
