Title: Suzuki handle bars and radiator temporature sender.
Post by: Mal on Friday, 27 June 2025, 07:37 AM
Hello all.

At the end of December, my GSX was stolen....pushed a mile and dumped in the local canal.
Quite depressing. After it had been underwater for a couple of days, it was dragged out by a crane.
As you would expect, it was a total loss.
I had purchased original handlebars and a sensor to control the fan, which I no longer need. Both items were second-hand when I bought them.
The bars are £38.00 including postage to the UK—the sensor £30.00 including postage for anyone interested.

Best regards Mal

That's terrible news Mal. Hooli had his bike stolen too for a second time. I don't think they've recovered it this time unfortunately.

I'm sure you'll find a home for your bits. 👍

Did you get another bike at all ?

It's the start of a new bike for Hooli . . . .

I decided at seventy-six that another 1400 would soon be too heavy so I bought a step-through Burgman 400 for when I get old. I truly enjoyed the two 1400s I owned. I don't think they could have been designed much better than they were.

Best regards, chaps.

Those Burgmans were great in Australia the 400 came as a GT with all the bells and whistles.
I rode one up Mt.Glorious and passed a few sports bikes in the twisties 😈😈
I'm keen to keep riding as long as possible, chaps like you are my inspiration Mal 👍👍🙏

Didn't the Burgman also come as a 650?

I think so, to compete with Honda's 600 Silverwing as far as I'm aware.

Burger-Van 650.
One of the guys I used to ride with, his Mrs had one.
From memory it's the only scooter type bike we've ever had on longer rides. Actually went surprisingly well.

I had the Burgman 650. My dad owned it before. Gave it to me because it was a pain to maneuver in the garage and driveway etc. The 1400 is a toy in these situations. Great scooter otherwise.

Years ago went to a job on Burgman 650, flat battery. Started it and owner asked me to take it for a ride, make sure all ok. I jumped on,  just a scooter i thought, big twist of throttle, soon found out what a 650 scooter goes like, bloody quick when not expected. I also rode a big BMW, scooter, maybe more power again.

Speaking of stolen, I´ve got an Apple Airtag in the bike. Ya never no; better than nothing. And around my place bike stealing isn´t nearly as bad as the UK.

I have them on a few vehicles. A couple of times around here folk have crashed and not been seen, or I've gone out a while and Mrs didn't know if I was OK. Last week I forgot to charge my phone.
Mine were partly for theft but they have other advantages too.

Should have had an Apple Airtag on the first wife, would have saved me being married to her for so long

Do any of you's remember a guy on the previous forum that went to MCR's in Oz on a 650 Burgman, he went half way around the world on it, did a big write up on his adventures on the forum. I met him on MCR and VJMC rallys he was from Melbourne his name was Garry lovely bloke. Snapey will remember him.
