Excuse my poor terminology, but the photo will hopefully show you what this post is about!
While out and about on Saturday, I suddenly lost throttle control. Engine ran fine, but just on idle.
After an inspection, the open cable had jumped out of it's adjuster on the throttle body. The locking nut underneath had come loose. Popped the tank of, popped it back in and it got me home.
However, after closer inspection, the close cable has completely come out of it it's place. I assume the open one popping out caused this.
My question is, is it possible to get this back into position without removing the airbox and throttle body?
I have done this before and it's a pain!
Alternatively, is it OK to ride it like that and have this as a winter job to sort?

FWIW I wouldn't continue to ride it like that, getting home is one thing, continuing to ride is another. Just imagine for a moment that something were to go wrong, & Insurance found that you'd ridden it like that knowingly, yeah, ya know what's next eh. As for getting it back in place, I have no idea, but

Yeah you can get that back by just taking the tank off for access. Totally slacken the adjusters off & you should have enough slack to do it. It's a bugger to get your fingers in for though, you'll probably find you need one hand under the throttle bodies to turn them manually to line things up.
I think I've had to disconnect the cables from the throttle grip & unhook the adjusters at the throttle body end occasionally, depends how stretched your cables up really.
I deffo wouldn't ride it much like that. The reason for the closing cable is it allows softer closing springs on the throttle body so you don't have a heavy throttle. So without that cable it's possible throttle could stick open at high power because the springs aren't strong enough to shut the butterflies on their own.
Great answer Hooli. No way id keep riding without fixing.Never heard of that happening before, somebody forgot to tighten the bracket nuts🤷
Aye, I had the pull cable fall out the bracket above the TBs because I was an idiot & forgot to tighten the nuts once. Only way I can see it happening, as there isn't enough slack in properly fitted cables to enable it to be disconnected.
I'm surprised the bike ran properly with the cable so slack it just fell out. If it fell out so easily it should just slip back in then you would need to take out almost all of the slack to prevent it happening again.
Thanks for the replies. Slid the throttle body out and replaced the cable. All sorted now and going in for a full service today and getting it checked over.
