Title: ANZAC DAY
Post by: GSXKING on Friday, 25 April 2025, 03:02 PM
Today is ANZAC DAY for Australia and New Zealand "Lest we forget"
So many sacrificed in the name of war, it's incongruous to us now.
We thank them for their heroism.

Yes Anzac Day is a big one for both countries. Many here would call it New Zealands national day.
Much respect....
Lest We Forget.

A Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX, a P-51D Mustang and a T-6C Texan II flew over during our local ANZAC commemoration...it added to an already poignant service, in a beautiful rural cemetery.

The saddest part of it all is Gallipoli was almost a success. I was reading the other day that if the naval bombardment lasted another day or so the Turks would have run out of ammo in the forts & retreated out of the area so the landings would have been unopposed.

So many lives wasted for very little.

Only dampener we experienced whilst in Darwin was the behaviour of some service personally, clearly intoxicated and riding an e-scooter down the busy main street and crashing into non-service people, then laughing about it with no regards to what or who they were hurting.  Bit disrespectful imho
