I woke up this morning to my garage door smashed open & no 14.
There's a skid mark 1/4 of a mile up the the road where she was dragged away with the lock & chain still around the back wheel. I found where they took her, along with the lock, ignition, half the clocks & the scum's tools on the floor. No bike though, obviously. Speaking to people, they've seen or heard her being thrashed around the village for a couple of hours. Which means she's stashed somewhere to be thrashed till she's dead.
The police are as utterly useless as ever, they gave me a reference number & asked if I'd collect all the evidence for them as to paraphrase - we can't be arsed to come out for a day or two.
Utterly utterly ****ed off with it. We can't have anything we want these days due to feral scum rats who steal everything. What's the point of working & saving & looking after stuff you've managed to get when this always happens?
Sorry for your loss.

Aye this end of the village isn't too bad, but the other end is full of scum & they come up here robbing all the time.
Bastards.
That's so sad Hooli, I really feel for ya on this as you got her back once but doubt it'll happen twice.
As you said in another post, last time this happened you'd just washed her & you washed her again the other day! Gotta be something to the stealth coating over there. . .
Feral scum, agreed. Should be open season on 'em.
Oh mate, I'm so sorry to here that. I know what I'd do with them if I caught them!!!!, but your right modern society and their attitude to one and other really sucks. :furious:
I'm gutted for you Brother, I have no words.
We have the same problem round here, burning is too good for these tossers.
Try not to let it get you down too much Buddy.
D.D.
Sorry for you Hooli, that's just so sad.
The penalties are no deterrant. It's the same here. Things should change.
Give Liam Neeson a call @Hooli those bastards deserve it.
I'm gutted for you as is everyone on here as we all know your connection with your bikes and riding.
There's not a person I know that wouldn't take revenge on these thieving bastards if found. 🥊🥊🥊🥊⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️🗡🗡🗡🧨🧨🧨
I'm very sorry to hear that, Hooli
So sorry Hooli. As said, we work for our stuff and frogwits take it away. Your Harley??
So sad to hear this Hooli, as mentioned modern society sucks, all wrong attitudes...you've got it we will take it!
So sorry to hear this Hooli. It's no real consolation, but the lives they lead mean that one day they'll own something they value, and someone like them will take it from them.
That's a rear pisser Hooli, these little fuckers should have their hands cut off, painfully. Did they nick anything else?
Many years ago a mate had his car pushed off the drive so scum could open his garage and steal his CBX, insurance blamed him, bastards.
Bastards - castrate the fu##ers :furious:
Sorry to read this @Hooli..
Far too many bikes getting stolen on a daily basis nowadays. I'm surprised that the feral skinny little tracksuited chavs even had the strength to drag it away.
Hopefully it'll turn up and not have suffered from too much damage. Having said that, I don't think I'd want mine back once these scrotes had had their "fun" on it :furious: :furious:
Quote from: grog on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, 03:10 PMYour Harley??
Not touched, nor was Stroppy. They obviously just wanted my 14 as easy to hotwire & rag around till they crash it or something.
I've emptied as much stuff out the garage as I can into the house, so that's no more work happening on Stroppy as there's no room in the kitchen. Put a load of extra locks on the inside of the garage door in case they come back.
Plod rung back this morning & they are coming round later to collect the bits & stolen tools I found. But from what I've heard on FB it's definitely been seen & heard getting ragged around the village at night. I did go looking for a while, but never saw them, so many little alleys & stuff though I'd never be able to catch them unless very lucky.
Best I can hope for is they die very painfully crashing her.
It's really done me, I'm wondering why I bother trying for anything when scum can just take stuff that's important to me & I've had for so long. It really makes trying in life seem utterly pointless.
Ah jeez Hooli that sucks man. So sorry to hear that.
Quote from: Hooli on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, 06:48 PMBest I can hope for is they die very painfully crashing her.
This.
Gutted for you Hooli, i hope your wishes come true and justice prevails in a painful way for these arseholes.
Faith in the police has all-but disappeared regarding thefts like this. I hope the coppers coming to see you have some empathy and resolve.
Sorry for your loss.....again Hooli. Like you said, bastards need to die a painfull death. Hope you find it in a reasonable state.
Absolutely devastating mate
This is the hardest read mate.
I hope that something is found and these scumb get caught and punished.
I know if they are there will be a que to give these dicks a kicking .
So sorry mate please keep in touch and is I cam help you know I'll be there for you mate .
Thats a Fucker Hooli!! :furious: Shared it yesterday on Facetweet, hope someone gets the Fuckers and gives them a Fucking good KICKING!!! :furious:
Geez Hooli, that's a right out shit thing to happen. Agree, hope they suffer most painfully. Jail is too good for them as that's where they get more "skills" to aid them in their life of crime.
Chin up mate.
So Advice Hooli from an old been there frogwit. Life really sucks sometimes, older you get the more you accept it. IMO. Just because they are mongrels, you dont need to be. It does get better. Electrify your shed, spread the word you are cranky and lethal. Protect that Hardly with some device, maybe a good dog, Aussie Heeler best ive had. I hope your 14 comes back, condition doesnt matter, you can fix.
Not nice to hear, and have experienced something similar. How about keeping it in the house ? I made a little ramp and pushed mine into the lounge when i lived in a rough area, great for working on when winter came around .

No way I'd get it indoors. My T140 fits, just. But a 14 & the HD are way too long to get around the corners with how the rooms are laid out.
Anyway, what's this winter thing? mine was used all year for 18 years. That's why it was a touch shabby & had loads of miles on, was mechanically still as sweet as ever though.
Sad.
And all of the above
Before I had a garage in service quarters I kept many of my bikes indoors, kitchen, dining room, sitting room and hallway. Even converted one of the rooms into a spray bay and workshop. Gotta keep um safe.
Hooli, Hooli, Hooli!! Of all the family to have this happen! Gutted for ya Bro!
Our Law Enforcement out here has a similar reputation and yes much of society today is sick! With the damage you have already seen, I would assume it will be written off should it surface somewhere. Think of it as a stepping stone to another 14. And! maybe a resurrection with all the effort you put into the previous one! Now where did I leave my 45 Clint!
Stan
Small not particularly great update.
She's been ridden around the village two up with scummy scrotes on this afternoon. From what I've been told it seems the local scrotes are using her for delivering drugs from a local dealer.
The poor old girl, she deserved much better.
Hooli, on the positive side she's still rideable. The longer she keeps going, the greater the chance the morons will be caught.
With any luck they'll stay somewhere too long after someone has told me too.
I'm not confident but it's a slight hope.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I read your post Hooli, I'm sorry for your loss.
Years ago the local bike thief/scumbag nicked the wrong bike..... it belonged to a bigger fish who promptly kidnapped the shitbag by throwing him into a van and taking him to a forest where he tortured the vermin.
The guy was subsequently nicked for abducting the poor thief but hey Ho bike thefts in the area stopped straightaway.
Confucious says - don't steal bikes from people who are capable of hurting you more, than you hurt them !
Sorry to read of this Hooli.
I like to think my over the top security measures at home will prevent such a thing but reality is it'll probably only slow them down - hopefully long enough for me to notice and "deal" with them as best I can.
Hi Hooli,
I just saw this thread and I'm very annoyed to read it.
Just fucking boils my blood to hear this, as previously was mentioned by others , what should be done to these bastards , if the law in society wasn't completely on it's fucking head. I won't rant, but I'm pissed off for you.
You taking the time to read and reply to my earlier posts today is very much appreciated ,even with all that going on in your head.
You're a credit to this forum Hooli. It's people like you on these forums that keep others coming back. Not to disregard other longstanding and very helpful members either of course.
I hope something positive comes out of this situation for you, starting hopefully with you getting your bike back.
There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.
Well i do hope your not serious about that Rob
I reckon the scrotes deserve ZERO tolerance !
Sorry to hear about the bike, it's one of my biggest fears.
Got the first offer off the insurance company today - £1168 minus my £300 excess. You'd be lucky to buy a scrap 14 for that & mine was a decent one for it's miles. I'll argue it for a while but doubt they'll raise it much, if at all.
Send em photographic evidence, which will help defy the bikes high mileage. Mileage is pretty irrelevant when a machine is well maintained. Don't give in too easily Mate. My low mileage bike was full of work and neglect.
D.D.
I've already done that, I fully expect to fail though as insurance companies take your money and give nothing back.
Yes, (without opening a can of worms) Insurance is a nightmare Generally. Ah well, it's a waiting game then Bud.
D.D.
When I got my insurance some 3 yrs ago the policy quote something like £1750 on trade in/theft etc, although I'd just paid £5500 with 25000 on it, insurance is just a legal scam.

every year when my renewals come through (bikes and cars )they ask the value of said vehicle,,I always reply "why ask my value when you will only give me bottom book or trade in value " .they can never give me an answer....legal fraud insurance nowadays.
Never take the first offer.
Think Erin Brockowicz 😳
Insurance necessary evil unfortunately. My house storm wrecked twice in last 8 yrs, they paid $150k repairs, gotta say im happy with that result.

Didn't help last time, I went all the way to the ombudsman and it wasn't increased.
But yes, I shall play the game even though I've never seen that film.
Hooli I have found when dealing with insurance companies is they try to get the customer to put it all in the too hard basket.
Don't give them an easy ride.
And yes DD it had done a high milage because it was fastidiously maintained. (or was it thriving on neglect?)
Only Banks and Insurance companies make record profits in times of economic hardship.
It's just a bummer for you Hooli having to deal with all this bullshit the scrotes have put you through.
I took the last lot to the ombudsman over the valuation. It costs them about £800 every time anyone does that, so it cost them as much as they'd ripped me off by. Not as good as getting the money but nice anyway.
Delay, Deny, Defend...the traditional positions of insurance companies.
Sounds like you're well versed in scrapping with them Hooli...hope you get a decent outcome this time.
Is there any news on recovery of your 14 Hooli? Are they still ragging it around locally?
Not had any reports of it being seen no, so it could have gone further as the roaming gangs of scum cover most of Donny.
Quote from: Hooli on Wednesday, 30 April 2025, 10:34 PMNot had any reports of it being seen no, so it could have gone further as the roaming gangs of scum cover most of Donny.
Hope it turns up soon mate, in surprisingly good order. I see the insurance tight-arses are also making your day better. Feel for you.
Just had a call off the insurance, my claim has been validated via the broker & all that nonsense.
They've offered the payment as I mentioned before, without prejudice. So I've said yes, then on the off chance they offer more later I get a top up payment for the rest.
£1,168, less my excess - £868.
I can really see me buying a mechanically excellent & faultless but tatty 14 I'd trust to ride across europe for that! Plus the £100 or so of stuff I had under the seat, of course. I can't put a value on all the memories, but no matter what I do eventually replace it with, it'll be the wrong bike.
Remember kids - insurance is a con. You have to have it, but they rip you off when you need to use them.
I've never claimed off insurance all my life, I only have it to make it legal. But my policies go up every year, what am I doing wrong.
I don't get it, Hooli is offered 1168 gbp for his K3, yet stepdoug has to fork out around 5500gbp for a same age bike on the second hand market. Something wrong there. Insurance should be paying you what it costs to replace like for like, especially if you've got full comp insurance.
I dunno if you are looking, or will be interested, but I saw this and thought of you (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/267232260617?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110025%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.COMPOSITELISTINGS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20241009084833%26meid%3D7c670ac8ea90440db8d6a2004f401e0c%26pid%3D102473%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D8%26b%3D1%26sd%3D286531104933%26itm%3D267232260617%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D1%26algv%3DCompositeMixSimDefaultOrganicAndSimPLAlgo%23FilterOutCpc%26brand%3DSuzuki&_trksid=p1.c102473.m5053&mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m164382.l178272&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=7b09aafbaefb4568a1363c097e7730d6&bu=43097145616&ut=RU&exe=0&ext=0&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20250430061356&segname=11021&recoId=267232260617&recoPos=3) mate. It's bad, but not quite as bad as that Grog, Hoolis' pay out is gonna be £868, £300 is his excess. Still bloody horrendous though

I'm not looking as I can't afford to replace it. But that's a great example of how far out their valuations are & actually quite cheap for a 14 in good nick so I'll use it to argue with them.
Quote from: Kiwifruit on Thursday, 01 May 2025, 04:37 PMInterested in how much you had the bike insured for ?
I think it said £1500 or £1750 on the policy. But they ignore that totally & make up a much lower figure when it comes to paying out. No idea why they ask value as they pretend it's the wrong figure anyway
Well that was surprising.
Just had the insurance ring me about my 14's value. Five minute convo with the biker on the other end & they upped it to £1,500 after he knew I'd done all the miles on her. Means I get £1,200, so not enough to replace her but seems a reasonable value for the miles & previously written off last time she was stolen.
Still no idea what I'll get. Can't afford anything currently anyway, so I'll just wait till something catches my eye & feels right.
If it's recovered, would you consider making a low-ball offer to the insurance company for it?
Quote from: Pommeroy on Friday, 02 May 2025, 05:16 AMIf it's recovered, would you consider making a low-ball offer to the insurance company for it?
All they do is tell me which co-part auction it's going too, if they remember to tell me.
But yes, I think I'd have it back & fix it, again.
That sounds fair Hooli. At least it's in the ball park of what you paid the premium for .
Been a panelbeater all my life and with very few exceptions I have been disappointed with the way insurance companies and their assessors negotiate the scope of and costing of repairs and total loss payouts.
Had one assessor say after I'd handed him my itemised estimate I'm not interested in the breakdown, what's the bulk figure. I replied that if I'd given him a bulk figure to start with he'd say how did I get to that figure.
I told him in no uncertain terms that we were here to negotiate a price fair to all for effecting the repairs, not to play word games so ring the owner and take the job away. Very quickly we agreed on a price and I repaired the vehicle.
I worked at a Jaguar approved repair centre many years ago. An XKR came in needing repairs to the rear. We wanted to put a new rear bumper on it they were about $2000, the assessor said it must be repaired not replaced. I can only assume the customer had more than the Jag insured with that company. Assessor hadn't been gone long when the phone rang and the claims manager approved the new bumper.
I know because I've been told, some insurance companies have a scoreboard with the average cost of each assessors repairs. If you get to the top of the board you get invited to a personal development course.
Insurance companies costs and payouts are micro managed.
It's just a game to them, to us it's our valuable asset.
Any news regarding finding your bike Hooli?
No
Sorry to hear this Hooli. My 1st 14 went the same way. Never saw it again. It cuts deep.
Quote from: Pommeroy on Friday, 02 May 2025, 05:16 AMIf it's recovered, would you consider making a low-ball offer to the insurance company for it?
Insurance is something I'm pretty fussy about.
Mine have to have agreed valuation and the option to buy back any salvage amongst other things.
Permanent write off or repairable I'd buy a bike back any day, either to repair, use for parts or break for spares.
