I think I will be digging deeper to resolve this problem.
Bugger. Is that mess on one of your bikes? Still, you're the right man to fix that sorta thing.
Out for a ride last week Col, bike started fine stopped for a 10 minute break and on pushing the button click click click. A guy in the house where I stopped jumped started and it got me home OK.

New stator time.
Mine burnt that plug out the time before the time before last when it went, reg/rec was fine and still is.
Rats living in your bike?

I have AC coming out Hooli, even got a wee shock. Haven't connected reg yet will later today, hopefully it's OK.
Quick wire repair, all good.
Ignition On 12.1V.
Idle 13.0V.
3000 RPM 14.4V.

Blimey, cheap fix there then.
I like cheap fix, sealant around all the connectors and screws.
Will see me out and better than factory connectors. :)
Brilliant fix there Jeff, simple & practical if not elegant. Well done, I'll keep the style of repair stored away should I need similar.
Yes Col I'm happy no damage to alternator or regulator. All connections are clean and good.
With sealant will be better than new. No one sees the connections anyway.
I have had this problem in UK bikes going back to the late 70's.
