Title: I'm back again
Post by: SteveJ8672 on Sunday, 20 April 2025, 06:52 AM
Hi Folks, I only posted once on this revamped forum after GSXBarmy sorted it out. Unfortunately I will save you all the boring details why its been soo long, I will be very active going forward as I have a major restoration and overhaul on my severely neglected bike and now that I'm retired I have plenty of time.

At last!

Some one with a 14 shabbier than mine, I knew there'd be one somewhere!

Is that electrosis or whatever it's called being done on the tank to get the rust out?

Yes mate, a friend of mine did it and got a really good result. You have to use a tank seal solution on it afterwards though, especially mine as it was well rusty.

When I looked at the first pic my first reaction was Hooli is gonna love this! He chubbs up over a manky bike . . .    :rofl2:

Big job ahead Steve, gonna take it back to a frame & start from there?

I think there are plenty of mankie bikes out there Hooli however I don't think those guys take pride in that. 🤨

I don't think mine is too bad for the mileage & being used all year for nearly two decades if I'm honest.

Yes, pretty much mate. I have a decent budget so I am not going to skimp, the only thing I will be doing differently is I am going to spray the frame and not powder coat, also I am going to experiment with the black oxide finish on brackets and try out using a aluminium blacking kit on certain parts too. :onya:
