Friend of mine has recently purchased a K2 model, V5 confirms this, my question is this. The fuel rail sidecovers, have 4 holes in them, does this signify that its a K4 or a K2?
Ive read a post somewhere that this relates to the year and model? Not really sure myself, and seeing as though ive been away from the site for quite a while,(for which i apologise) i cant remember from which post ive read it.
Anyways...
All the the best.
Shiney..
<nerd>
The number of holes doesn't matter, but only the K2 has the cutout around the end of the fuel rail. The fuel rail must be shorter on the K3 onwards, I know the part number changes.

The easiest check (ignoring the paint job) is only the K2 has a headlight switch, K3 onwards have hazard lights in the same place.
do you mean these holes Shiney? This is a K6 & it has 4 holes.

K2 for comparison

I've only just noticed there's just three holes but you can see the cutout for the fuel rail. I've a feeling the K2 ones are monkey metal & K3 onwards are plastic too. But I can't swear to that.
Mines a K3 (Dec 2002 built) and those little end covers are a chromed plastic on mine.
Hey Eric, notice your 4 holes are in a different place on the plastic bit than on a K6.
I noticed also, so at least 3 different.
Mine purchased October 2001 😳

Looked again this morning, figured it out. The parts are the same because the holes are in the same end of the piece, what's different is what side they're on. Looking at the pic's I reckon they could be fitted either side & still work, sorta like the front guard can fit backwards. I never had those off on mine, so I'd say holes forward is the right way round, not that it matters.

Valid point, will have to check the manual which way these holes are shown
Only 2 part numbers for the covers. K2 is diff to the rest. Eric, pretty sure yours are wrong way up.🤷

UK parts on Ozzie bike
Even kept them the right way up for you fellas up-over so you wouldn't get too confused
OK, swapped them around to match rest of world. Never noticed, but they have L and R marked on the inside, plus they fit into the cast recesses on the #1 and #4 throttle bodies a lot better. Thanks for the pick up Grog
I love that we've solved another first world problem 😂😂😂😂

Nice, except it was me what worked that out. LOL
Yeah, all Cols work. Weve had a few similar over the years. Axle nut, fr guard, handlebar clamps.
