Title: Big Bore Pistons
Post by: Blmac on Thursday, 27 March 2025, 10:19 AM
I am looking to bore and sleeve my block, bore my cases, all of which I can do myself. I don't quite know where to source some 89mm pistons from. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First post 👍
And straight into asking questions and advice.
Hmmmm let me give you a tip if I may.
An introduction usually gets some responses. Just saying 🙄🙄

I think BigCC Racing did a 1550 kit, no idea if they still do.

JE supplied the 1550 kit in the past.

The 89mm pistons from Boris were custom made by ROSS.

I bought Boris' complete 1700 / 1692 cc.
He had LA sleeves bore liners to 89mm but the sleeves are oval and tapered.
The big valve head was a piece of art but also had it's challenges but is now not useable as i made a calculation error and that resulted in valve/ piston contact. That error only showed itselfs on the 3th adjusted pull on the rolling road. 1000kms of trouble free "Run in time" only to find out i miscalculated the heat growth.
All can be fixed but for the money needed i can buy a very nice Hayabusa

It is not a website, never was.
Boris was a forum member who built the first 1700cc big bore gsx1400 motor.

You can find some footage of him in Youtube racing a gsxr1000

I remember drag racing my Harley Davidson RoadKing in 1999/2000 and blowing the motor up. I spent $7000 on the motor and hot up bits. It went from 54hp to 82hp and loads more torque a genuine 13 second 1/4 mile street bike.
2000/2001 I won the all comers HOG Drag series based on dial in times. I went through a rear tyre every 2 meetings. I ran 110ron fuel. I was very consistent that year, never broke out and had awesome reaction times in the .4's.

A couple of years later I took my B-King to the street drags and ran a 10.3 and was told to go home or get an ANDRA license.

The point of my story is in drag racing every tenth of a second costs money 💰💰💰💰

Yup, the best way to make 2million dollars in drag racing is start with 3.
