Title: Front Fork Spring Length
Post by: Emery on Tuesday, 28 January 2025, 07:13 PM
Hello Folks,

I went through the topics but I didn't find an answer for my problem.
I'm just tinkering on my K2 model forks. The original spring are below limit according to Haynes Service and Repair Manual(Fork spring minimum free length 322,6 mm), however the Suzuki Workshop Manual says 316 mm. Any remark from old hands?

I'm about to mount a pair of after market progressive springs (Wirth-Gabelfeder) not only because the new original ones are not available just now. I need to know the length of the new original springs to adjust the correct assembly height  - you  know spring + washer + spacer + washer. So, can some wise man give me the height of the new original springs?

Welcome to the forum.

I'd go with the Suzuki manual length out of the two. The springs changed from K5 onwards & were longer so I'd suspect Haynes has got the later spring lengths quoted.

Don't forget the 11mm measurement for the nut on the damper rod. It's got to be exactly 11mm from the top of the thread when you screw the caps on or your rebound adjustment on the fork cap won't work correctly.

Hi Emery, welcome to the forum.  I doubt there's anything about a K2 that Hooli doesn't know, 100% go with what he has said.  :onya:

Normally you'd get a much better response if you take the time to be civil and introduce yourself and your bike/bikes prior to asking for advice from long term members Emery.

That's why I'm not in any FB 14 groups, well that & that every other question is how do I nail this annodised tatt on & ruin my bike?

Plus the folks who don't understand the basics of how bikes work arguing with the advice etc etc

I'm staggered by the extent of the knowledge folk on here have about the 14, and their willingness to share it. Long may it continue.

I don't think those asking a question before introducing themselves are being intentionally rude. It's more likely a reflection of generational differences and not appreciating that the forum works like life...people like to know about people, and are more likely to help someone they know than a stranger.

I am not going to respond anymore to someone who does not introduce himself with a meaningful description of person and bike. If they don't know about how a forum works - their bad. Don't waste my time and effort.
