Title: Fairing
Post by: MickyJB on Tuesday, 26 November 2024, 11:48 PM
I searched ???  and it would take me a week of staring at my phone so I'm asking what has probably been asked before  :whatever:

The fairing in this photo, are they factory or aftermarket ? Obtainable or rare as rocking horse pooh ?

It's aftermarket. The pic looks like the one Webike use to show various exhaust on the 14.

Not sure which fairing it is.

@MickyJB If you want a replica of the one in your picture, then you want the Skidmarx fairing and screen, as the one in the picture is a replica of the old 1980's GS1000S fairing

Fairing: https://skidmarx.co.uk/all-products/suzuki-gs1000s-cockpit-fairing
Screen: https://skidmarx.co.uk/all-products/suzuki-gs1000s-standard-screen

Just check that it fits a 7" headlamp though if you go for that option.

Alternately, Skidmarx do a cockpit fairing which is very similar but without the "wings" at the bottom

I had this one sprayed and fitted to my K7 (pictures below).

I appreciate that you are down under, but Skidmarx are very helpful and do export, so you'd need to contact them for prices.

At the end the day its whatever you like the look of, very popular in Japan as they have some nice designs of handlebar fairings and bellypans, import duty make them less attractive though 🤔

Actually when GSX1400's were still being manufactured, Suzuki did offer a handkebar fairing as an option - I think around 2004 - however it was short lived and only available in the Japanese market as sales were too low.

Makes sense, I've read somewhere that they were fairly rare

Nope.

It came with a fairing, which got removed as soon as I rode it home. It'll never go back on unless I sell the bike.

That fairing on that paint job is a homage to the bike ours are based on. I do like that look. I however have a fly screen attached to the headlight for the slightest of protection and I don't think it takes anything away from the looks.  :imrgreen:
