Title: Brembo RCS clutch master size?
Post by: lurch on Thursday, 21 November 2024, 05:21 PM
Anybody happen to know the recommended clutch master cylinder size when converting to Brembo RCS? I've tried a few different suppliers and none have the answers.

I scored a brand new 19RCS brake master from a mate as payment for some work. Now that it's been on the bike for a few weeks the clutch master being different is really bothering me. I'm aware of the lack of clutch switch but have a solution for that.

I had a search, seems same number for clutch cylinder. Not sure why bother, stock works fine, looks i guess,no advantage.

I've searched the forum and all the FB groups. Lots of mentions of swapping but none of the actual size.

Definitely not necessary but I've got a shed full of bikes that have suffered similarly 🙄

For about the same (aesthetics, read: symmetry) reason, a 19RCS is fitted on mine for years and do work absolutely fine.
When I had, previously, a Nissin radial MC, it was 19 in size as well.

As for size comparison, I've installed a 17RCS on my MVAgusta Brutale 1090RR, which has a roughly equivalent clutch size (although it's a slipper clutch), but the slave cylinder is a bit smaller in diameter.

Here is a photo of my setup where you can also see 'special' reservoirs dedicated to Brembo MCs and that blend more nicely than the regular plastic hanging ones, especially on a naked bike.
And that look closer to original, which is quite important to me ;)

Thanks. I'm sticking with the plastic reservoirs for now but will probably upgrade in future. Those similar to yours sure are expensive and I think I've spent enough on this bike for now.

Side note - I miss my Brutale 1090R! That and a 2008 Speed Triple are two bikes I wish I hadn't sold.
