Title: Bull by the horns
Post by: GSXKING on Tuesday, 19 November 2024, 04:18 AM
Our second day in Christchurch I took the Bull by the horns at the Art Gallery. Bobbie grabbed the other end lol 😂
We head off Tuesday morning on our riding adventure.
I'll keep you posted 👍

How much fun is that luge, hope you tried it. We did, and could not get enough.  Queenstown is a great place, love the view to the Remarkables from up at the top of the luge run.

Reckon that luge is on my bucket list. We used to have a small one local, loved it.

New 10 seat Gondolas $200million 🙄
Luge was as you say fun. We refused to brake and caused a lot of carnage lol 😂
Bobbie was trepidatious at the beginning then was trying to beat everyone 😈😈😈

Ride to Glenorchy was a spirited ride 😈🏍🔥🫣.
Some of the Asian drivers doing 40-50 in 100 zones got quite the shock 🏍💨
One of the best roads we've ridden at pace on ever. Excellent grip in corners.

The road from Wanaka / Hawea to Makarora & Haast Pass is a good one too, reckon you'll also enjoy that part, then you've got the west coast road, great scenery & riding roads.

Good to know Col cheers it's quite damp in Queenstown this morning and roadworks were laying bitumen outside our hotel all night 😴😴😴
Fuelling in Cromwell perhaps some breakfast 🍳

Fuelled up in Cromwell 👍
Lunch by the lakeside in Wanaka 25 deg lots of white fleshed sunbathers 😳
Through to Haast on another spirited run. Got launched off the ground a few times Bobbie hung on like a rodeo rider 😈😈
Ran wide on a few turns near Cameron's corner as they'd scarified the centre of the lane. BMW handled it all quite calmly 👍

Rode to Franz Joseph in rain ☔️ most of the day yesterday and helicopters weren't flying 😢
Rebooked for this morning still no go so headed to Reefton to try to meetup with KiwiCol. Arrived at 12:30 had lunch at Steptoes Cafe, a walk around town. They've struck gold nearby so property prices are on the rise. 10 years worth of gold according to a local pizza guy.
We left at 13:50 no sign of Col. Lack of communication on my part.
24 deg when we left that is another awesome road through to Hanmer Springs, the depth of the ravines and no Armco makes for a memorable ride. Started to chill down and strong headwind as we approached and 9km left to empty tank when we pulled up.
Have had a few ciders then a wonderfully authentic Thai meal.
Tomorrow we'll soak our aches and pains away in the springs.

Nearly six hours of soaking in thermal pools yesterday with the sun beaming through occasional clouds. I felt like I'd had a workout and dehydrated incredibly I think it took 3 pints of Killkenny's just to start the top up plus 2 bottles of flavoured Uzu 😂😂
We packed our bags this morning and headed back to Christchurch.
All three of us were a little melancholy because it was all over 🤫
2332 kms clocked up on the RT.
Qantas once again ran late with no apology.
Aside from them, everything else in NZ was fabulous for us. We experienced every weather conditions other than snow (Bobbie still a snow virgin) 😂😂😂
Food and accommodation were exceptional. Met some awesome people (KiwiFruit) Col it was a pleasure to ride with you 🥇🥇
We have been home now for a few hours and already discussing our next trip. Spain & Portugal are high on the list and for 4 weeks 🥳🥳🥳
