Got failed on my vision when I went to get my license renewed. Damn !!
Went to my optometrist today for a more in depth vision test. Well, the good news is I just scraped in. The bad news is I now only have 50% of 20/20 vision.
I was always told that diabetes robs you of your vision over time. 40 years after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes I now fall into that category.
So I'm going to get on with riding my bike before I feel it would be unsafe to do so.
Going to get the ferry timetable out this evening and plan a trip to the South Island to see my son and the grandies sometime in November.
Will catch up with you Kiwicol when I'm down that way.
Old age catching up with us all :bugga:
Shame mate, do the trick as per Donald Sutherland in the movie 'Space Cowboys'
That'd be great KF, there's a bed here in Westport if it fits in.
We will be arriving in Christchurch on 17/11 heading clockwise for two weeks to be back in Christchurch on 30/11 it would be awesome to cross paths with you guys at some stage of the journey 🙏👍🧐
PM'd ya Chris
Should be able to make that happen Chris
You take care mate
Is there anything that can be done to help with your eyes
My type 2 diabetes caused me to have early (57years old) cataracts that were corrected by removing them and fitting replacement prescription lenses?
Is anything like that be done for you as this procedure isn't just for cataracts and might really help with your vision
Had cataracts done in both eyes. That was amazing. Before having them done it was like looking through sellotape. Nope 40 years of less than perfect diabetes control is having it's effect. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness. I'm just busy enjoying the bike while I feel it's still safe to do so.
