Title: Greetings from UK
Post by: jeffagsx1400 on Sunday, 11 August 2024, 07:45 PM
Hi all,

New member here. Have owned the '14' for a grand total of 2 weeks now!

Previous bike: 2015 Suzuki Hayabusa Anniversary Edition.

Why did I make the change? Comfort and practicality. Having a fully faired bike, maintenance for the beginner  was made a bit more tricky too!

Hayabusa was a wonderful bike but being London-based I was asking for trouble (thefts are no joke).

Effortless speed and to this day the 'silkiest' acceleration of any bike I've ever ridden - hats off to the guys at Suzuki. Lifelong fan of the brand now.

Things I love about my 14 - the looks, the rear tyre and profile, six speed instead of 5 (why I didn't go for the XJR1300 or CB1300) and low stress nature of the engine.

Morning.

Well done on keeping a bike long enough to sell it in London! it's bad enough in the rest of the UK.

Gidday mate, welcome to the forum.  While the 14 is no Busa, the longer you have it the more you'll realise what an awesome machine the 14 actually is. (in my unbiased opinion :whistling: )

@mick_J that's a good point!

Here she is in all her Givi glory  ;)

Haven't come around to taking off the top box frame but might have to should vanity kick in. What's the point of owning one of the best looking naked  muscle bikes if ya ain't going to show it off!

Blimey a complete rear mudguard, that's a rare & lovely sight. So many have horrible undertrays fitted.

Indeed @hooli

Bar the Max Torque cans, Puig front screen and Beowulf radiator guard she is very much factory standard.

Talking about mods, I spoke to a technician and asked him what he'd do to the bike if it was his.

He said absolutely nothing. Not even braided brake lines when I asked him about it.

Only issue is the seat could be slightly more bolstered near the front? I'm 6'4 and the seat seems to angle me ever so slightly towards the tank.

Yeah a few people have said that about the seat & had them modified. If you do, keep the original cover even if it's not used as they are getting expensive (they tend to split when old). Personally I'm happy with mine, I just recovered it the other year when it split, but I'm not as tall as you.

I'm just about the same height and had my seat rebuilt 2" higher and flatter to get around that problem.

Excellent. I'll see if there are any decent upholsterers in the south.

If I remember correctly, the unkind moniker for it is: The Big Poo!   :stir:

That picture was from my fly and ride home from collecting the GSX1400, and discovering just what a true "Gentleman's Express" it was.

Texas fits in to Queensland 5 times. Texans hate that when you point it out.  :stir:

I think I've heard of some earlier ones getting a confirmation cert by being tested. After all the bikes didn't change from K5 (as far as emissions goes) so they should pass. No idea on costs as I never go near that foreign country that sits where England's capital once stood.
