Title: Learner Advice
Post by: grog on Monday, 10 June 2024, 06:32 PM
Young bloke at work starting out, wants advice on which bike. I have no clue. CB650F, MT07, Z650 Kawa his 3 choices. Any advice. Ive ridden Honda &Yamaha, not Kawa. I really liked MT07, small for me but good, preffered over Honda. Any others he should look at?

Those are all LAMS bikes I assume? I would suggest Triumph street triple S 660, it fits into LAMS, they're a very nice bike.

CB650F for my money, small but effective fairing & screen with good every day ergonomics.
I like the Z650 style and it has a good pillion seat & pegs.
The MT-07 very modern in comparison and has been a popular first bike with my students, I have nothing bad to say about them.

Is he just starting his learner journey? Because if so its likely he'll crash or at least drop the bike at some point.
So maybe considering something cheap might be worthwhile. Maybe an SV650 or something (if it fits LAMS these days)

SV650 is a great little bike, it's one of those where you can use most of it's potential most of the time, unlike most bikes.
